This is a unique subject for a podcast. I am always happy to learn about obscure manga that I would otherwise have not heard of. Not everything can become an anime and it's fun to hear the reasons why certain manga never made the jump.
If you love deep dive stuff, these guys are great! I am also co-host of the podcast Leveling Up with Benjamin Banks and I’m blown away by their ability to get information on these particular mangas that aren’t in global rotation. Kudos!
When I first came across this podcast I didn't know what I'd be listening to once I turned it on.. I really enjoyed the chemistry and the humor these two guys have Definitely! Definitely worth listening to and adding to your list!
I enjoy being able to find so much manga info in one place. Now I don't have to search it out! Great pod!
Did not know what to expect from this podcast but definitely had fun checking it out!
Listened to Chibi Episode 22.5, great and funny banter between the 2 hosts. I agreed, the premise for the Double Arts manga sounded interesting with the epidemic spin but the execution did seems pretty off. Informative review of the story and I look forward to future manga reviews!
Informative and fun podcast. I'm not a huge anime connoisseur but I consider myself a student (my son is teaching me) but this show is eye opening and enjoyable
Man these guys just build my interest in manga and anime show after show. Their enthusiasm for the genre shine through in each episode. Well done fellas!!
Good chemistry between the hosts, and they make a topic that I'm not that familiar with interesting! Good listen! I'm sure if you know more about Anime and Manga than I do, you'll love this one!
This show is so much fun! Any one who likes to hear about crazy ideas needs to listen to this.
A great time! Jordan and David find a way to make the topic interesting for both new and long time manga fans. They've got a good chemistry that makes you keep listening. You won't feel lost if you're new to the topic and you won't feel bored if you're well versed. Recommended!
Shonen flop does. a very good job at there podcast they explain a lot of good then about dragonball z an how amazing the show is an how about them characters. Also the talk about other shows like no other could do they are like the future of talking about these shows. I recommend you all to check them out!
"Not every manga can make it in Shonen Jump like Dragonball Z, One Piece, or Naruto. Listen in to David and Jordan discussing the mangas that got canceled, and what they could have done to have stayed afloat instead of becoming a Shonen Flop." What's it about? Manga! It's all about Shonen Manga! I am excited! Can't you tell? It has a twist! It basically focuses on all the mangas that got canceled - the ones that just didn't make it. I think this might be the first time I've listened/reviewed a manga based podcast. Who are the hosts? Our hosts our David and Jordan, very passionate host who you can tell actually cares about the topic of mangas. Listening to this podcast draws me back to my heavy manga reading days - and honestly makes me want to jump back into it. Why should you listen to them? They has such a nice twist to the discussion, and it does help me discover things that I normally would not. It's unfortunate that they talked about cancelled mangas, I suppose - because if I do end up caring about it - then it's already cancelled, yikes. Suggested Episode Our Blood Oath - The latest episode that they have available! They have a great guest - Stephen Paul (translator for One Piece too). Bonus feels for me because they talked a little bit about how Japan really likes the name Alice because of how popular Alice in Wonderland is. If you like Manga/Anime then this podcast is an absolute no brainer! A great show, with great hosts and great production quality This lovely podcast is just the right amounts of niche and is great for anybody with even the slightest interest in nerd culture!
These guys and their guests always have such insightful and funny commentary and criticism on each of the discontinued manga they review. Every episode makes me crack a smile! Highly recommend to manga and non-manga fans alike!
A great show covering a range of lesser known Manga and Anime. The guys have good chemistry and a natural flow, and research their topics well. It's a fun and informative show that will introduce you to new stuff you may have never heard of! IF you are a manga fan then this show is a must!
Shonen Flop is an incredibly creative idea for a show, but the best part is it's accessibility for both the passionate for manga and anime and casual listeners simply looking for a good podcast to have on. David and Jordan definitely do their homework and share a passion for shonen however, they remain casual enough by avoiding self-serious gatekeeping and too much criticism. They seem to be having a genuinely great time. Give them a listen and subscribe now!
You know it's gonna be a fun show with an intro song like that! The hosts present solid content with a funny charm that keeps you locked in from start to finish. Don't take my word for it. If you're into Manga, this is a must listen show! - #ODPH
You know when you read something for the first time and you're interested to check out other people's thoughts on it but it's too niche to find much about? That's exactly the itch this pod scratches: short-lived WSJ series that could have easily gone forgotten. As someone who reads the magazine every week, this is exactly the kind of content I'm looking for. The discussions are always interesting regardless of if the manga is surprisingly good (Mitama Security) or...less good (Bone Collection). The hosts touch on art, story beats, character potential, and more to give thoughtful examinations of these series while also being laid-back and funny. I definitely recommend.
David and Jordan provide a deeper look into manga series than most other podcasts out there that I've heard before. Everything from Character development, motivations, storylines, and art. These guys truly pick Manga apart to see how it works, and do so with keen and masterful precision. Hopefully they do an episode on Chi No Wadachi or something similar!
