From a bizarre roadside creature spotted near Devil’s Backbone, Texas, to a dog who stares at ghosts in Minnesota, this episode of SkeleTales is woven of yarns involving animals in some shape, form... or spirit. Pour yourself a hot toddy, light a fire and settle in while Britt Kilpatrick and Alissa Williams tell you tales from a time when the days are short and the nights are long. Thats right folks, this week the gals are telling wintery tales. Alissa's great-grandfather puts the H.V. into Holiday Vibe with a story of his Santa antics at the old homestead outside of Buffalo, NY. Maybe H.V. could also put the ‘V' in Veteran’s day, which is the day on which, years later, Alissa’s grandmother and cousins try to disipline some disobedient aparations in a nearby cemetary. Britt then blows Alissa’s mind with a text message she received from her fellow Austinite, Juli, whose 3 year old daughter, Elyse, has a new imaginary... or, perhaps not so imaginary, friend, named Jada. Next, an unexpected sequal to a premonition tale involving a curse, an native american medicine women named Mollyockett, a string of fires and Alissa’s attempt at a Maine accent delights the ladies. This episode will have you thanking your lucky stars that you can’t travel right now. Pretty much all hotels are haunted by spirits who are itching to creep your holiday right up. Britt introduces us to the ghosts of Samantha Houston and Colonel Jesse Driskill who inhabit the Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas and who are known to haunt guests and employees alike. The girls then have a good laugh about dead baby paintings before Alissa tells a quick anecdote of her time at the Genessee Valley Club in Rochester, NY which is not at all a hotel, but for some reason, Alissa still thinks it counts. Then, of course, no podcast on hotel hauntings would be complete without a tale or two from the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. Britt gives an incredibly informative overview of the genesis of The Stanley and its founder, F.O. Stanley, but Alissa is barely listening because she is confounded by how that Rocky Mountain Air could cure Tuberculosis. She manages to re-focus in time to relay the story of a friend who stayed in a spirited room in the Stanley where he was awoken by an entity attempting to make his evening a bit more comfortable. Britt wraps it up with a tale from her friend Kristen who experience some strange phenomena whilst on a ghost tour at the infamous resort.We want to hear your stories! This week the ladies discuss the mysterious and confounding phenomena of premonition, precognition, deva ju, intuition... all the ways people are given glimpses into the future. Britt’s family is all about seeing them future babies and shares a tale of yet another Ben saving her Grandmother from disaster. Alissa is really out to solve the case on this one and it goes as one would expect but does share some interesting theories on the phenomena, including a highly scientific experiment involving nudie mags. She also relays a few premonitory tales including a little girl who wakes in the middle of the night with some devastating knowledge and a friend of the podcast whose dreams repeatedly come to fruition. In this episode Britt and Alissa both happen to have found stories that occur at idyllic homesteads on opposite sides of the country. Britt’s tale describes the night a dark energy stalked and poorly serenaded her mother Debbie during a visit to MawMaw's house in Splendora, Texas in the 1970s. Was it a ghost? A demon? A vampire? You be the judge. Alissa then reads a story sent in by Katie, a dear listener and friend, who tells of strange experiences at her grandparent’s house at the base of Mt. Watatic in Ashby, Massachusetts. In this week's episode Britt and Alissa tell tales of the days of yore, of souls who roamed the earth in centuries past, yet whose stories, and spirits, live on.
