This episode represents so much of what I love about this podcast. There is a conflict with really low stakes, a villain whose problems can be traced to grade-school politics, throwback references to eighties pop culture . . . All narrated by the most polite, open-minded, self-deprecating and patient P.I. in the great beyond. While I enjoy the episodes with multiple characters "talking" (Nuns in Space, for example), I personally find that the one-sided conversation is where Mr. Ackerman excels. His pacing, word choice, and earnest delivery of slyly humorous stories is the perfect blend to trick the weary, anxious brain of the average insomniac into handing over the reins and just giving it a rest. I often find myself returning to particular episodes and this is the most recent addition to the stable of favorites . . . and while I can't convey exactly how this sleep-wizardry works, I can tell you that the mystery of When Will This Lady Catch Some Zzzz's has finally been solved.
