1.Make sure you have your foundations in place:
How is your website content and profile?
Do you have adequate hosting to handle more traffic on your website?
Do you have the infrastructure, suppliers and capital to handle increased traffic as a result of a PR campaign?
2.Create an avatar by asking some questions about your target audience, "Lexi" in the case study, examples:
Age
Appearance
Occupation
Interests
Publications or media that your target audience reads
Hobbies
Family
3.Tell your story: Make sure you have a story angle which journalists can follow up on, if they pursue your news lead.
4.Share your story in publications and media.
Decide who to send out press releases to based who your target audience/avatar reads.
Adjust headlines or content to fit the news outlet it’s being released to.
Don't overlook local publications and websites.
5.If a story is written up about you and your business, link to it and blog about it.
