RATING
This is one of the most admirable true crime shows. Not only does David Ridgen has a rare gift for talking to people with respect and gain their trust. Everything is also extremely well researched and written. Although the stories are gruesome, they are important. And we get to come really close to everyone involved. I know its a team effort, but David really is the lead-character throughout the series.
First Podcasts I ever listened to. I WANT/NEED more of David Ridgen and his so. David is just someone you want to listen to and believe, very easy and enjoyable to listen to.
I'm only on season 2, so bear with me. I do like the podcast, I think that the host definitely has some admirable qualities, that there is a lot of good research going into it, and that there is some amazing work that is done.However... I feel at times that the host can be a little unprofessional. I'm maybe mid-way through season 2. And in season one, the host seemed to push the family a little more than I was comfortable with to get details. I'm not sure if it was the tone of the family members that gave me this idea or... but there were definitely some moments he needed to pull back a little and let the family breathe and sort their own thoughts and feelings out.In season two, he has gone and approached someone (I would more align his actions with confronted) in their workplace. They had to go and ask their boss to ask them to leave. And if you don't think that's exactly what she did, you are wrong. I get not wanting to be a "random disembodied voice from Ontario" but, that little stunt could have cost a woman her job. And he acts like somehow he was justified because he wanted to put a name to his own face. While I am enjoying the podcast so far, I do think some things are a little much. And while the host definitely does a good job narrating and taking care to try and sort out all the details I feel inclined to say that personally, I feel he involves himself a little too much and spins the cases into something about him. Something about those moments he takes to say he "needs to take the thing" or "come back and think about this person while I'm here". He most definitely does not. And it may just be me, but that spin to make the case, research and tragedy of some of these people about him ruins it a little.Pretty okay podcast. Meh host.
David is really good at what he does! With season 7 coming out, people are coming out saying that he is saying it from just one point of view, and its really sad how people are not getting the gist of this season! 4 doctors were shot and one was killed in the name of "pro-life". I think its a great season and even though you don't get answers at the end, at least someone is working to keep all these cases open to public and is trying to help the family get some answers they deserve!
I do not support blm I don't support kkk for great reasons, but I think u will find many will stand alongside you in season 3 no mattertheir color. No one deserves that no matter the color, hence why I don't stand with blm. ALL LIVES MATTER. I don't care what race. I was brought up with a parent who was raised biased, yet as my Dad aged, that even changed. I hope the podcast can find closure for season 1,2 and 3 plus ones to come I've yet to hear. Best wishes. Luv the podcast and the attention you bring to each season. keep the good work up!
Absolutely love this podcast. This is one of my favorites.
First season was OK. Story was compelling enough to listen through to the end, but it didn't have quite the grip I would have liked and the host was often a bit on the prosaic side.
This podcast is my absolute favorite! David Ridgen is the best at what he does. I’m ecstatic to have a new season to listen to!
The podcast should cover different kinds of mysteries and or stories about criminals/serial killers. This is what I would enjoy listening to so I know many other people would to.The stories in this podcast were very bizarre and intriguing those were what interested me the most. When David speaks within the recordings he sounds completely natural and at ease, speaking at a normal pace. But, when narrating for The Podcast his delivery is completely different and he seems to want to be very dramatic and draws out each sentence. It gets annoying and tiresome. Stories are great, narration not so much.
David Ridgen is a fantastic podcast creator, producer, and Host. His topics are absolutely fascinating and he knows how to tell a story like few others. His manner is calm and he is never overly dramatic nor does he engage in fear mongering. I suspect he could make topics I have no interest in compelling and propulsive, he's that good. Each season has been better than the one before. I highly suggest you give this Canadian staple a try.
My favourite true crime podcast. David Ridgen is incredible
With each Season of SKS David Ridgen does an amazing job diving into the missing cases he takes. Diving deep in to the family and story behind the missing person. I love the way he takes his journalistic background and isn't afraid to ask the hard questions and track down individuals that need to be spoken to all in an effort to help bring closure to the families effected. - Podcast Junkie
You can hear David's passion for the families and the missing persons in the cases he covers. It's great that these cases are getting more light. Season 1 was kinda tedious but Season 2 was great.
One of my favorite shows. Season 2 about Sheryl has been my favorite and yet most heartbreaking one so far.
Loving this podcast! Great to listen to while doing laundry, or driving! The details in it are great.
David's voice, presentation style, and reporting skills are top notch. Every episode has me on the edge of my seat!
Great deep dives of cases that seem highly solvable - if that last key piece falls into place. A few seasons have resulted in closure or progress, so who knows what time will bring.
Detailed and honest Canadian True Crime! Extremely well researched. The investigating is forward and persistent, yet polite (expected, eh?). Emotive storytelling that really considers the victims.
