Hello and welcome to Sounds of…  a podcast created by Drum and Brass, with the support of the National Lottery, and Leicestershire County Council in which we explore the impact of music on our lives.  My name is Kim burley jones and in today’s episode, I am talking to fellow Drum and Brass director, Julie Hoggarth about her experiences of learning and teaching people to play music.

When Julie and I had this conversation she had recently curated an exhibition of images created by members of Leicester's Lo-Fi photography group in the Chapel Gallery, which is in Bishop St Methodist Church in Leicester.  The exhibition called NoBarsMusic  featured portraits of 20 local musicians from diverse backgrounds in their rehearsal spaces from across the city.  Julie also set up a beginners brass band for children in the Saffron Lane area of Leicester.
