Good episode? Give it some love!
What does success mean to you?
Do you buy into the standard definitions about having so much money, so much property, a huge business or getting to the top in your profession?
What if there are other ways to define success? More than that, you get to define it for yourself without having to become an overachieving go-getter. Sound good? Welcome to the anti-hustle.
My guest Matthew Turner is a British author who lives in a small town in Yorkshire, England. Having previously published three novels and a non-fiction business book, he wrote ‘Beyond The Pale’ on the back of interviewing hundreds of successful entrepreneurs, authors, investors, and thought-leaders.
Gaining a unique insight into areas such as mindset, flow, and personal development, and a gaining reputation for crafting compelling stories out of other peoples’ lives, Matthew builds relatable fables for those looking to live a meaningful and purpose-driven life. As well as writing for himself, Matthew ghostwrites both articles and books for other successful entrepreneurs and thought-leaders, in-between spending time with his two children.
About 'Beyond The Pale': Ferdinand Foy has it all: success, youthful good looks, fame, and a soon-to-be hundred-billion-dollar company. He assumed he had it figured out, and that life would only get better.
Until one day a chance encounter forced him to ask, “Is this really it?”
Beyond The Pale is a business fable written for today’s fast-paced millennial that’s always switched on, ready to work, and with dreams to change the world.
It follows Ferdinand as he begins to question what success and fulfilment mean to him, travelling the world in search of answers to questions he never dare ask. Meeting an assortment of entrepreneurs, authors, musicians and spiritual healers, Ferdinand changes his entire outlook on life, and with it, the daunting prospect of walking away from the business he built from scratch.
Beyond The Pale provides a spiritual awakening to anyone so caught up in their business that they cannot see beyond what’s in front of them. Through Ferdinand’s own awakening, you’ll begin to question your own life and the pursuit of success that no longer makes sense.
As Ferdinand reaches the end of his journey, he finds the answer he was looking for. But first, he must figure out how to ask the right questions.

Speaking Influence

Influence and persuasion are the weapons of leadership and success but do you understand how to wield them and make them work for you or defend yourself against them? Whether you're using your influence to persuade through a speech, online content, a story, marketing copy, personal branding, cult recruitment (not recommended), stand up comedy, leading a business or leading a country... you need to understand how influence and persuasion work and how to make them work for you and make sure they're not working against you. The most common areas to see influence and persuasion at work are in public speaking and presenting, such as political and legal arenas, but they affect all of us in all parts of our life. As soon as we engage with someone, pick up our mobile, turn on the TV or computer, we're either influencing and persuading others or subject to the influence and persuasion of others. My mission is to empower people to understand and utilise influence and persuasion skills within an ethical framework to help improve people's lives and make the world a better place. So often, we see how influence and persuasion are being used to manipulate and sway people, creating division and sometimes even inciting hate. Let's use the art of rhetoric to improve the world and put the tools of leadership into the hands of everyone, not just self-serving elites. Join me for fun chats, serious chats and always educational and interesting guests. You will always come away from the show having learned something valuable and even having had some fun sometimes with industry experts and exceptional people from week to week. Make sure you're subscribed.
