He’s a man on a mission to build a business that will stand the test of time.  This week on Take My Advice, we talk to Nathan Chan, a young entrepreneur from Melbourne making a massive mark on the digital world.

Two and a half years ago, while still working a full-time job, Nathan created and launched the online magazine Foundr with the goal to deliver a business magazine that young entrepreneurs could relate to and learn from. Since launching the magazine, Nathan’s interviewed the business world’s biggest influencers, including Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington and Seth Godin, started the Foundr podcast and rapidly expanded his global online following, taking Foundr from an online mag to a multi-faceted digital media business and valuable resource for any entrepreneur.

We knew we had to get Nathan on the show to share his story!

Building a database:  When Nathan first launched Foundr magazine was it the end goal to develop multiple channels to build a database or is this something he discovered along the way?

We also discuss the power of building relationships and the importance of delivering value to your online community.

Goal setting- Setting major goals and breaking those down into micro-steps, is the key to success.

Nathan discusses how Matthew Michalewicz’s Goal Pyramid has been a powerful tool.

“I think there’s something so powerful when you write your goals down. And there’s something so powerful when you’re telling people about your goals, and then

also when you’re looking at them every single day,” Nathan says.

Quality-  Nathan explains his high standard for quality and how despite rapidly growing the business, in a short space of time, the quality of his work or brand was never sacrificed. From the FoundR mag to podcast and website, every piece of content produced oozes quality.

“I think that I’ve always had a good eye for design, and I always wanna do things in a world class way. So whether it’s the magazine, whether it’s our podcast artwork, whether it’s our website or our Instagram page, or any sort of collateral, even our course, you’ll see it’s really polished, it’s really high quality,” Nathan says.

Instagram domination-  This is one of the first course offered by FoundR.  Nathan explains where the idea to offer this online course stemmed from and future plans to create training programs to help other entrepreneurs grow their business.
