This episode features Dr. Candice Thompson . A graduate of Howard University and Howard University College of Medicine , Dr. Thompson shares her inspiring story. She describes the hard work and perseverance it took to earn an academic scholarship to undergrad. Despite excelling and performing well on away rotations, Dr. Thompson did not initially match and had to scramble into a surgical residency program. Despite this minor (major) setback, she has thrived in the specialty and is currently subspecializing at an incredibly competitive program.
