A slow-burning and intense drama surrounding a therapist and her clients. The characterisation is superb, and the "strange and unusual" element is grounded in very real, human responses and interactions, as stories are revealed and psychological tensions emerge. It's a quality audio drama, very involving, with extremely well-drawn characters and plot.
Listened 100% loved it
One of my favorite podcasts of all time!!! I'm especially attached to Mark and his story and he's a character that is very important to me. This story in general is super intresting and the characters are fun and realistic!
As someone who just recently came to Fiction Podcasts, The Bright Sessions were an inspiration to me. I love writing and I love podcasting, but this... this is master level work in writing and podcasting. I loved the deep characters, I loved the fully fleshed out world. Thank you so much for putting it out there for us to listen to!
An absolutely brilliant punch in the feels.
Amazing! Love love love. I even bought the book series that came out and it was great! Cant wait for more! I was pretty angry when it ended but super excited about future books and the Caleb/Adam spin off.
The Bright Sessions? More like the blight sessions. Shippen, to her credit, CAN get performances. And there's an ambition here that one usually does not associate with the doldrums of audio drama. Still, why am I cautious? Why do I feel as if I'm being played? This is ultimately why I can't go all in on The Bright Sessions. Because I really feel as if nobody cares about living. I really feel as if this project is an exercise in phony belief and phony empathy. Oh well!
This was my gateway podcast and I have yet to look back. Such a wonderful, well written story. It sucks you into a world that you just don't want to leave.
Great characters, great story. It starts very disconnected and it's really lovely to see how everything slowly comes together. The voice actors all do a brilliant job!
This was the podcast that started my audiodrama obsession. It made me cry, laugh, and want to be a better storyteller. As someone who loves the 'power people' subgenre, this felt like a heartfelt breath of fresh air. It's got imperfect people with powers who need just as much help (if not more in some cases) than the rest of us normal people. Everyone should listen to this show <3
One of the classics in the independent audio drama scene, this heartfelt and intimate drama, which slowly grows into something a whole lot bigger, has some of the best writing and acting in any drama out there.
This show is perfect for anyone who wonders what it is like to be a superhero's therapist, minus all of the other stuff that comes with being a superhero.
Warning! Addictive as hell. Aw gee, this podcast was literally the only reason I signed up for Luminary! Because it addicted me so much I had to listen to the Second series and pay. First one is free! But you will love the roller coaster and you will laugh, cry, panic, rage, fall in love and become awe struck by each character. It was really great and so relatable too. Try the Bright Sessions and you’ll realise there are good quality podcasts out there with really good voice actors. No excessive or crappy dramatic pauses in this one. And best of all it does resolve itself so if you don’t want to listen to the AM and pay ? you don’t need to. You might want to though. I sure did.
The Bright Sessions remains to be my favorite audio drama podcast. No other podcast has breathed more life into its characters than this one. It's the one that I recommend to anyone who asks for something to binge listen because it's so easy to get into. My only complaint has to do with Damien. I feel like his character arc was never completed. It was sooo close, but no dice. I can only hope and pray that his story can finish in either The AM Archives or The College Tapes.
Each story is incredibly interesting and makes me want to keep listening to the next episode.
This podcast made me laugh, and it made me cry. And I loved it right until the end. A beautifully crafted and written story that everyone should listen to.
This is the first audio drama podcast I ever listened to. I really liked the story, the pacing was nice and I especially love how the well-crafted the characters were.
I can't properly express how amazing this show is. Everything about it is incredible <3
i absolutely love it, it's very suspenseful
The show revolves around a group of adults and several young adults that all share a special attribute they all have a supernatural abilities in some form. Yes I know it sounds so cliche from today's world but somehow Lauren Shippen the creator has gone beyond what could of been a TV knockoff and made a vast world that feels so real. In this day and age we are so skeptical of the people running our government and wonder who’s truly behind it all and what they’re hiding. - Podcast Junkie
