The BHP is a chronological retelling of the history of Britain with a particular focus upon the lives of the people. You won't find a dry recounting of dates and battles here, but instead you'll learn about who these people were and how their desires, fears, and flaws shaped the histories of England, Scotland, and Wales.

"The History show which decided to take the "exhaustive" route. The subject, Great Britain, is both wide and clearly defined. The host makes a great job dealing with the gap in our actual knowledge of some places and chapter of history while managing to make the whole lot sound friendly and understandable. I love little notes of humour like the sheep in the pasture sound or the "Personal Jesus" goth invasions. Great also if you are a fan of The Last Kingdom. :) "

"Telling the story of the people of Britain through history, the podcast does a good job of telling the story of many people in a captivating way. It does its problems, particluarly in the post-Roman period when a lack of sources and a thousand small kingdoms makes it hard to follow the overarching narrative, but it does mostly a good job of trying to make up for those problems with a deeper dive into the life of the people of the period."
