Tackling murder with a tinge of sexual violence, plus revenge fantasy is a tricky balancing act. This podcast is ambitious, overly designed so, but I think the end product is a garbled mess. Everything here just feels like a repeat of age old hoary tropes. The entitled villain lashing out at perceived rejection, the lovingly detailed descriptions of the women’s body parts, the barely there insight to what these women’s lives could have been if they weren’t so damned to be defined by their deaths in this narrative. This is Law & Order SVU with slightly more detective-sanctioned revenge and murdered woman greek chorus, and it left me with just as little insight.
