Dave Coogan, Kelvin Belton, Terence Scruggs, and Dean Turner are 4 of the 11 men who coauthored Writing Our Way Out: Memoirs From Jail. The book is the culmination of work that all 11 men did together at the Richmond City Jail, using words to write their way out of old stories and ways of life and into new ways of living. The project began and a question on Dave Coogan’s mind and grew into something that none of the men could have imagined.
