RATING
As a cast member i obviously have some bias, but having listened to previous work produced by Randy Greer, i can honestly say that this will be an incredible listening experience, do not miss out.
If you’re into end-of-the-world/apocalypse type shows you’ll love this!I’ve been following the Black Star universe since the beginning (Black Star audio book, Black Star Chronicles, and now The Culling) and each entry adds an entirely new layer of depth and world-building to that universe. The Culling is dark, intriguing, and most of all IMMERSIVE. Plus, it’s a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure story! Five stars from me!
The CullingThank you. It’s fantastic to see the Black Star universe get this kind of love.
A phenomenal science fiction horror show with absolutely outstanding sound design. An immersive experience out of the ordinary. A show I will keep coming back and listen to.
I absolutely love this podcast, please make more like this.
I’ve been pumped about this show since the trailer dropped and it’s already surpassed all of my previously high expectations. The writing feels organic to the characters and situation, and the acting is pitch perfect across the entire cast. The score and sound design are both truly ‘out of this world’ brilliant. The word ‘immersive’ gets thrown around a lot these days and because of that I feel like it’s a shame I don’t have an even better buzz word to describe the production values on display here. (If I were recommending this show in-person to a friend I’d probably use quite a few swear words and excited hand gestures to properly relate my love for it, so feel free to add those in while you’re reading this...) Until the premiere I didn’t realize The Culling was a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ style podcast. Which... taking into account the amount of additional planning required to maintain all of those branching alternate timelines and dialogue... makes all the detail, care and precision put into each episode even more impressive.
Really enjoyed this one, great sound and voice acting. You get to choose which direction the story goes
I like the narrative devices in this show. The soundscaping is great. Oh, and there's a dog. Yeah. I don't trust that dog.
