#017- Father Dave shares the real-life example of how he and his staff virtually ministered to his parishioners using Deep Practice. In today’s episode, Father Dave shares how he has been virtually ministering to his parishioners in new ways during the pandemic. This opportunity to find a new way to meaningfully connect to one another became a surprisingly fruitful way to learn a new spiritual practice as the group virtually learned the Relinquishment Practice together. This experience serves as a reminder that God continually calls us to go to Him and experience his mercy and tenderness in all circumstances. The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at www.go-n-do.comListen to the Deep Practice Podcast, Subscribe, and leave a review!Www.deeppracticepodcast.com

#010- The solution to being paralyzed in the face of a new challenge is simply to begin.Becky and Father Dave discuss the challenge of becoming overwhelmed and paralyzed by a seemingly insurmountable task. Many pastors have shared that their parishioners struggle to get involved with spiritual formation because they don’t know where to begin. Father Dave and Becky share their own practices of prayer and how it is like training in our daily lives. The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at www.go-n-do.comListen to the Deep Practice Podcast, Subscribe, and leave a review!Www.deeppracticepodcast.com
#009- The Means of DiscipleshipIn this episode, Becky and Father Dave discuss focusing on the means of Christian formation and discipleship efforts in the Church, rather than the ends. If the end of formation is the total transformation of our souls into Christlikeness, what are the means? It can be overwhelming to consider this, but as Deep Practice teaches us, we can break things down into small and more manageable chunks, asking ourselves, what is the next small conversation we can engage in with someone with great love? Another aspect of focusing on the means is allowing ourselves to be stretched. In “The Little Book of Talent” Daniel Coyle calls this concept “reachfulness,” and it is one of the commonalities shared by successful athletes, musicians, and other learners. When we focus on doing small things with great love, and let ourselves be stretched, God himself can help us attain the greatness for which we were created. The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at:http://www.deeppracticepodcast.comJoin us on the journey and hit subscribe!
#008- The Familiar might be your biggest obstacle! In this episode, Becky and Father Dave examine how the familiar can become an obstacle to success and excellence in any part of our lives, including our journey with God. Becky shares that in her pastoral work, she often noticed that people were disconnected from the idea that they actually could hear from God and believed that it wasn’t possible to have a life-giving relationship with him. Father Dave and Becky discuss coaches and athletes who have been successful and achieved excellence in their sports, recognizing that focusing on the means, rather than the ends, leads to true excellence. This applies to the spiritual life as well, and can be attained through Deep Practice, as Deep Practice leads us to blaze new paths, focus on the details and the means to go to God, in a way that is attainable and possible in the midst of our busy lives. The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at:http://www.deeppracticepodcast.comJoin us on the journey and hit subscribe!
#007- Accelerated Learning Please! In this episode, Becky and Father Dave address the hectic, busy, maxed out lives of people today as one of the major challenges faced by pastors and ministry leaders in trying to equip their communities. They propose that the accelerated learning that accompanies Deep Practice and is also engaging, effective, and enjoyable can help people to undergo radical and meaningful changes in just a few minutes a day. Many people today are content with mediocrity in their spiritual lives or believe that they lack what is needed to undergo spiritual transformation, however, deep practice makes character transformation into Christlikeness possible and accessible. The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at:http://www.deeppracticepodcast.comJoin us on the journey and hit subscribe!
#006- The Fruit of Deep PracticeIn this episode, Father Dave shares more about the lasting effects Deep Practice has had in his own life and in the life of his church community. Learning and applying the practices help those who learn them to actually know how to carry out Biblical principles. Father Dave described a powerful encounter he had with a woman in a truly difficult situation, in which she was able to recognize that she needed to practice relinquishment with no prompting from him. Becky and Father Dave compare the practices to athletic training and how developing the habit of using a practice is like the repetitive training an athlete does in order to succeed in a big moment. They believe that the Church can use Deep Practice to effectively train and form believers to live as intentional disciples. The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at:http://www.deeppracticepodcast.comJoin us on the journey and hit subscribe!
#005- Introducing Father DaveThis episode introduces Father Dave Nuss, the Catholic priest who was influential in helping the Go-N-Do Discipleship team find a way to instill the practices as recurring habits rather than stand-alone experiences. Becky and Father Dave discuss his background, and how he came to meet Bob Beer and learn about his mission to bring Deep Practice into the Church. Father Dave shares how he and his leadership team personally used the practice of relinquishment before guiding their parishioners to learn and use it in a focused way during the seasons of Advent and Lent. The fruit of their efforts is seen in that parishioners continue to use the practice of relinquishment when they are faced with worry and fear in their daily lives, and continue to share the graces they have received from the use of this practice with Father Dave. The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at:http://www.deeppracticepodcast.comJoin us on the journey and hit subscribe!
#004-  Repetition is key. This episode concludes the three-part interview with Bob Beer, the founder of Go-N-Do Discipleship. Bob shares how the innovation of a Catholic priest from Toledo, Ohio provided a solution for the problem they had been having in truly instilling the practices contained in their book as habits people would turn to and actually use in their own lives. In focusing on one practice for a longer time period, Father Dave and his parishioners engaged in enough repetition of the practice to build habits, and finally achieve the amazing results Bob had been envisioning. The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at:http://www.deeppracticepodcast.comWe hope you enjoy this episode's reminder about the power of repetition to fuel the learning processes that lasts a lifetime. Join us on the journey and hit subscribe!
#003- Overcoming the Motivation ChallengeIn this episode, Bob Beer continues telling his story of applying Deep Practice to Christian formation and discipleship. Bob and his team faced the challenge of motivating people to learn and repeat the practices on their own. God brought to Bob’s mind an experience from his past involving a winter driving school, which led him to realize how essential the coaching aspect of learning is to making Deep Practice effective, and that without coaching, the books they had created were like winter driving schools without the instructors.   The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at:http://www.deeppracticepodcast.comWe hope you enjoy this episode's insights about how to get beyond the motivation challenges we face in life. #002 -Introducing, Bob Beer, the Founder of Go-N-Do Discipleship. This episode introduces listeners to Bob Beer, the founder of Go-N-Do Discipleship, and how he discovered the concept of Deep Practice during his career in business. Bob came up with a process to accelerate learning to train editors to work for his company, and he later learned that this process had a name: Deep Practice. Bob explains that after he left his company and felt a nudge from God to find a way to bring Deep Practice into the Church. Bob put together a team of people to create Deep Practice tools, and together they produced a book with tools for five spiritual practices. Although the book was very effective in small group tests, when the books were distributed outside of the test groups, people did not have the motivation to follow through on learning the practices. The podcast concludes with Bob working to overcome this obstacle by revisiting how to incorporate coaching support into the process. The Deep Practice Podcast is a production of Go-N-Do Discipleship and you can learn more about us at:http://www.deeppracticepodcast.comWe hope you enjoy meeting our founder and discovering the three essential components of Deep Practice, a powerful way to learn any skill you can imagine in a shorter amount of time while also getting incredible results.Join us and hit subscribe!
