David McAllister was a principal dancer with the Australian Ballet, and has performed to royalty in Britain and party leaders in Soviet Russia. He went on to become the company's longest serving artistic director.

But before all of that, David was a small boy in 1970s Perth, who loved performing every chance he got.

In his final year as artistic director, David has published his memoir, Soar, which looks back over a life in dance.
