I’m approaching this review from two different angles - as a Guest of the Podcast itself and also as a Listener / Audio Drama fan. The First Episode Of is a conversational style Podcast with Audio Drama creators with a particular focus on their debut Episodes.As a Guest I can tell you first hand that the Host, W Keith Tims, is a delightful chap. Friendly, insightful, knowledgeable and supportive. His research into our 1st Episode was incredibly thorough and he picked up on things that many other listeners have not and even some parts I'd forgotten. And he’s done exactly the same with other Audio Creators in more Episodes - Keith has “been there” and he knows his stuff. His understanding & experience will put any potential interviewee at ease.As a Listener, I find the conversations very interesting and educational. Audio Drama is notoriously complicated. From the Creative standpoint, through to Logistics and all the way to Editing and it’s fascinating to hear from different people with different backgrounds, methods and trials. This podcast is like therapy to me – and it’s also a great tool for those starting out in Audio Drama.

Creating a podcast is an... experience, to keep it general, but it's an experience that's different for everyone. And so, it's hard to know how to tell that story. Where do you start? What's interesting? Our host W. Keith Tims is good at guiding these conversations, tailoring each to that episode's guest. Because of that, we get the behind the scenes content we don't know how to ask for and potentially learning along the way.

A great in depth look at what goes on behind the scenes of Audio Dramas. W. Keith does a great job chatting with other Audio Drama creators and picking their brains about how they go about creating their shows (the writing process, producing, and editing). It’s also a great way to highlight creators and their shows in a way that goes beyond promotion, and more into how and why these people make their programs. I’ve found a some awesome shows that I listen to through this show!

Cannot recommend this podcast enough! Whether you are a veteran audio drama creator or a listener looking to dive deeper into the world of story telling through podcasts, there is no better resource. Hearing all the different ways people came to creating audio drama is absolutely fascinating, and getting first hand accounts about what goes into audio drama creation is invaluable to anyone looking to create their own stories through sound. Keith is truly the James Lipton of the audio drama world.
