Evangelical Christian leadership inAmerica are dutifully encouraging us all to just give in and get “the shot.” Earlierthis week, Pastor John Piper urges us to take advantage of our freedom inChrist, and “get the vaccine.” What? What’s that mean? We are, saysPastor Piper, free from fear of peer pressure to get the shot, trust thescience, trust the government, and trust the data. Isn’t the fear of pressurecoming from political institutions, risks of losing your job, etc. a littlemore of a potential problem than fearing those few people who aren’t gettingthe shot? Should we be more insistent to obtain a margin of freedom from biggovernment mandates than grabbing onto the “freedom” to put fetal-tissuederived cell lines and foreign mRNA concoctions into our veins? Shall webe more concerned about big government control than nasty microbes like Smallpoxand COVID? That’s what the older Christian leadership (as for example, AbrahamKuyper) used to say. And where is this thing going? If government hascontrol over what chemicals you put in your body. . . the governmentcan force you into abortifacients, day afters, and chemical abortions. Areyou ready for this?
