These clips were choosen to demonstrate that the would-be slaver very rarely profited from the industry but in fact was duped and exploited by a system controlled by absentee foreign slave dealers,Smallpox Nurses, Firearms, Churches, Carriages, Fraud, Emancipation Manumission, bad character, violent slave, Educated slave, absconded self-liberated slave, The Race and Slavery Petitions Project offers data on race and slavery extracted from eighteenth and nineteenth-century documents and processed over a period of eighteen years. The Project contains detailed information on about 150,000 individuals, including enslaved Black people, free people of color, and whites.
