RATING
I've only listened to the first episode so far, and it suffices to say that this is obviously a project of great passion. Finding the main character in a surreal environment that is ever evolving, reifying the title's modifier: chameleon. Just as a chameleon can take on the aspects of its environment, the psychedelic tale pulls the listener in to experience a mutating landscape of the mind and body. I will come back to this review once I have listened to the remaining episodes to leave a more thorough review. For now, I'll just be happy in the nesting zone. :)
Listening to this show is truly an experience. It's absolutely surreal, a pocket of weird and wonderful that I do not understand but fully adore. The Great Chameleon War is doing something new with the audio drama medium and I'm here for it. The narration is soothing, the sound design is intricate, the writing is masterful, and thins tie together in expected ways. It's great!
One of the weirdest and most fun series I've ever listened to. The main character also has one of the best voices in the podcast industry
Surreal experimental storytelling that uses abstract poetic language and interesting sound design to build atmosphere. Explores memory and the intricacies holding life together and destroying it.
I feel like there is no better way to describe this podcast then "it feels like I just dropped a shit load of acid*"*I have never taken acid, I just imagine it feels like listening to this podcast.
An incredible show, and probably the most unique Audio drama I've ever listened to.
THIS SHOW IS SO WEIRD AND SO GOOD. I listened to this while driving around the Massachusetts coastline and thinking about my mortality, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Please go give this show a listen.
Listen...you...you just don't -- Listen.Wait.Listen. You just don't know what you're --Listen. No! No. Listen. LISTEN!Listen. This show takes you places. It sends you places you may not want to go to. But I recommend you go because the journey is worth it. The destination? Well.Do you enjoy standing outside yourself at least you think it's yourself but maybe it's someone that resembles yourself and isn't quite yourself but enough like yourself that you can't look away to find out what's going to happen to yourself?Listen...
Arguable one of the weirdest fiction podcasts you'll hear. I have it in Fantasy, but that's not quite right. Then again... I don't know which category is correct. This is just... weird. But quite good!
There are no margins, nothing is linear, & everything is alive is this truly fantastic experience masquerading as a fiction podcast; because you don't just listen to this show, you LIVE it, & it's like taking psychedelics for your ears !! Subscribe now & come trip with us !!!
A surreal adventure-experience with an exquisite soundscape, fun characters, talented actors, bizarre imagery, evocative poetry and even some sort of plot! I would definitely recommend this to myself, if I could forget things on demand.
The Great Chameleon War is the kind of work of art that makes other artists say, “Wow,” and “How did they do that?” and “I want to do that…” A surreal experience of abstract storytelling and acid washed sound design, TGCW changes and adapts, moving with reptilian liquidity, and blending genres like a Chameleon. The show’s most impressive quality is its inability to be classified or properly described. Even calling it ‘experimental’ wouldn’t come close to doing it justice. This isn’t just another podcast…. this is what happens when grand ambition is met with deft execution. The results of which are at times breathtakingly strange in all the best ways. The creativity on display here is unmatched anywhere else in Audio Fiction. It’s not only worth a listen… its worth a FOCUSED listen. Just you, your earbuds and the reptiles all around you.
