Are you ashamed that you enjoy Star Trek? So are these guys. Like The Next Generation despite it being kind of corny? So do they. Willing to give DS9 a shot after all these years? They did! Ben and Adam's friendship and bond over an unironic yet self deprecating love of Trek results in episode by episode reviews, too many injokes to count, and the best worst impressions in pod.
A delicious slice of goof-em up pie with a pleasant side of embarasment-cream....Sometimes these two goofballs are the only thing that gets me through my day!I have much love for them & the Star Trek community they foster under their geeky wings,Cheers to Adam & Ben!#FODforever!Query: will Adam & Ben be joining Mammary Alpha for an epic one-shot?
This has got to be my favourite podcast. ** If you don't like people making fun of Star Trek, this isn't the podcast for you**I love Star Trek. Ben and Adam review episodes (they have both worked in Cinema) - their reviews are fantastic - and at the same time, make fun of every aspect that they can. Jokes about people shitting themselves? Yes. Captain Picard secretly being in love with Wesley Crusher? Yes. Riker banging everything that moves? Yes. Worf not understanding the concept of doors? Yes. Quasi-Omnipotent beings destroying an entire civilization and then making a sex doll of his dead wife? Hells yeah.It is clear that Ben and Adam love Star Trek with every ounce of their being, this isn't their only Trek podcast. (see "The Greatest Discovery" for their reviews of all new Trek - Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Short Treks, comics...)A podcast so good I drove 1200 km (round trip) to see a live recording!
This is the fifth podcast I ever listened to. I suppose it helps if you like Star Trek, but honestly Ben and Adam do a great job of summarizing. So even if you haven’t seen the show, you could probably still have a good time. They go through Star Trek series (plural) episode by episode, starting with The Next Generation, then moving on to Deep Space Nine and Voyager. It’s fantastic, funny, and expertly produced.
Wonderfully irreverent, new episodes always go straight to the top of the queue.
In a world where podcasts are abundant and oft hosted by a couple of white dudes, Adam and Ben have managed to cultivate a pod that makes you feel like you're the third wheel on a date between two chuckleheads who can't stop making shitty jokes at each other. It basks in it's hilarity, while also offering surprisingly genuine insight into both Star Trek and film production - between all of the dick jokes, of course. It is unpretentious - a quality you don't find in a lot of people who are willing to be vocal about loving Star Trek. They're not so reverent of the source material that they refuse to acknowledge it's failings, but they're also socially aware enough to recognize a lot of the strides that Trek made in television and science fiction. It is worth it to mention the fans of the show as well, as Star Trek is not known for having the chillest fans. The viewers of the pod - Ben and Adam have dubbed them 'Friends of Desoto' and speak fondly of them quite often - have several self-governed online spaces, and smaller groups within these spaces. The boys stock their online store with things their viewers care about, and seem to have taken an interest in maintaining the health and wellbeing of their fan spaces. I'm currently viewing DS9 S6E19 (Casualty Friday) and planning on watching all of the Trek I've been avoiding in order to view the remainder of and any future pod. I would recommend this podcast to anyone who likes Star Trek and has a sense of humor. I would recommend avoiding this podcast if you love Star Trek and take it very very seriously. (Ben & Adam - If you're still answering questions in 5 star reviews, which Trek show do you most wish you could have been a fly on the wall of the writers room for and why? and/or, if you could go back in time and direct any episode of Trek (think Picard in Tapestry), which one would it be and why?)
A weekly fixture, and perhaps the podcast with the best community. Not embarrassed to love it.
Excellent show. Ben and Adam are laugh out loud funny. They don't take Star Trek or themselves too seriously, and often discuss the larger ramifications of the story and production of these wonderful series. You could certainly do worse!
I could probably listen to these two talk about anything, but luckily they're talking about one of the quintessential shows of my childhood, Star Trek TNG. Always funny and sometimes moving.
One of my very favorite podcasts. Light-hearted, funny, and insightful.
