In a world where podcasts are abundant and oft hosted by a couple of white dudes, Adam and Ben have managed to cultivate a pod that makes you feel like you're the third wheel on a date between two chuckleheads who can't stop making shitty jokes at each other. It basks in it's hilarity, while also offering surprisingly genuine insight into both Star Trek and film production - between all of the dick jokes, of course. It is unpretentious - a quality you don't find in a lot of people who are willing to be vocal about loving Star Trek. They're not so reverent of the source material that they refuse to acknowledge it's failings, but they're also socially aware enough to recognize a lot of the strides that Trek made in television and science fiction. It is worth it to mention the fans of the show as well, as Star Trek is not known for having the chillest fans. The viewers of the pod - Ben and Adam have dubbed them 'Friends of Desoto' and speak fondly of them quite often - have several self-governed online spaces, and smaller groups within these spaces. The boys stock their online store with things their viewers care about, and seem to have taken an interest in maintaining the health and wellbeing of their fan spaces. I'm currently viewing DS9 S6E19 (Casualty Friday) and planning on watching all of the Trek I've been avoiding in order to view the remainder of and any future pod. I would recommend this podcast to anyone who likes Star Trek and has a sense of humor. I would recommend avoiding this podcast if you love Star Trek and take it very very seriously. (Ben & Adam - If you're still answering questions in 5 star reviews, which Trek show do you most wish you could have been a fly on the wall of the writers room for and why? and/or, if you could go back in time and direct any episode of Trek (think Picard in Tapestry), which one would it be and why?)
