On Episode 367 of The Harold & Maudecast, Sarah and Jake review two of this year's Oscar winning films, 1917 and Best Picture winner, Parasite.

1917, inspired by a story from Director Sam Mendes (Skyfall) grandfather, a WW1 Veteran, follows two soldiers as they make their way across enemy lines in a race against time to deliver a message that will prevent the massacre of 1600 British soldiers, including one of the men's brothers. The film won 3 Oscars including Best Cinematography. 2X Oscar winning Cinematographer, Roger Deakins, pulled off one of the most incredible visual sequence in film history -- sone continuous shot designed to show the realism of being in the trenches with the men fighting.

Parasite, from South Korean, Writer/Director, Bong Joon Ho (Snowpiercer)made Oscar history when it became the first international film to win Best Picture--4 Oscars in total. The film tells the story of a poor family, the Kims, who con their way into the lives of a rich family, the Parks, but all is not what it seems when the Kim's easy entry into the good life is threatened by unforeseen danger.
