"I beg you, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language." -Rilke-Doug Pagitt is a fascinating individual and I am so excited to have him on the show with me today. Doug Is a renaissance man in the truest form of the word. You could put a lot of different labels on them, but none of them truly do him justice as a person and a force for great good in this world. You could call him a pastor, and author or a speaker. As a leader of the holistic missional Christian community, Solomon’s Porch in South Minneapolis, Doug is a positive guiding force for the emergent church movement. You could also call him an ultra marathoner, a fitness enthusiast and the man that is interested in living at a physical peak. An example to others of what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it, he undertakes endurance feats that will make your head spin in amazement. You could also call him a devoted and loving father and husband.Truly the thing that I believe is the common thread that binds together so much of what Doug is a compassionate thoughtfulness that so clearly permeates everything that he takes part in. To be around Doug is to be in the presence of a brilliant mind who makes you feel part of the conversation in such an inclusive way. To hear Doug speak is to bear witness to one of the most thoughtful and incisive minds of his generation. It is just such a privilege and pleasure to have him on the show today. Some topics that we cover today on the show:-What helped Doug to chase his passion and become the inspiring individual that he is today?-What does Doug believe young people can do to ask the biggest questions that life has to offer?-What does Doug think makes for a grownup of substance?-And so much more!A bit of housekeeping: This is a labor of love for me, I do not make a dime off of this podcast!
