Josephine Brennan King ADCRG / BG

Josephine Brennan King, based in Ireland, is an internationally recognised performer, teacher and choreographer of Irish Dance.  With more than 30 years of Irish Dance experience, her unique approach marries deep–rooted traditions with contemporary innovations.

Josephine Graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast and became a teacher of English and Theatre Studies in Rathmore Grammar School, Belfast.  After teaching for a few years, she was offered the opportunity of joining the world renowned cast of Michael Flatley’s “Lord of the Dance”.  Here, she quickly rose to the realm of Dance Captain and landed the role of Principal Female Dancer.  During this time, she toured extensively throughout the world and played an integral part in the operation and management of the show.  She was also involved in the organisation and operation of the show for Disney in Florida.

In 2004, Josephine applied her entrepreneurial spirit and boundless enthusiasm for Irish Dance to the creation of Idanceirish Ltd and the “Celtic Storm Irish Dance Troupe”.  Idanceirish Ltd has become a globally recognised brand in the Irish Dance world and while the physical shop services a local market, the website ships all kinds of Irish Dance related products worldwide and provides a wholesale service to other dance shops all over the world.

Celtic Storm has also grown from strength to strength and to date, in partnership with her husband, Carl (Kiwi), she has choreographed shows for a wide range of events and clients, including Cruise Ships, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Prince’s Trust Awards, The Hellenic Group and Coca Cola. She choreographed and Directed a show that toured the UK and she has choregraphed a variety of TV performances even teaching the Famous Ant and Dec from “Britain’s Got Talent” a few steps.

In the past 12 months Celtic Klass Designs has been launched, a company which provides a new and innovative approach to class and team costumes in the hope to make the dresses more affordable, washable and lighter.  Even in this short time, the response has been fantastic, and the company has developed to produce class practise gear and now lighter, affordable solo dresses.

Josephine is also the co-director of her own Irish Dance school Brennan Miskelly McCormick, and is a registered teacher, adjudicator and grade examiner with An Coimisiun Le Rinci Gaelacha.
