Barbara Blakey O’Brien ADCRG

Barbara is a teacher and adjudicator with a thriving studio in Calgary AB. Her school, Blakey O’Brien has enjoyed a lot of competitive success, including producing the first World Champion for Western Canada in Glasgow in 2018.

She teaches choreography workshops at the school’s sister locations in Saskatchewan and BC.  Barbara recently adjudicated at the World Championships in Greensboro, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Barbara also works full time as a professional photographer at HONEY Creative, her multimedia company, specializing in commercial art and photography, shooting for corporate clients and capturing weddings and events worldwide. Alongside her husband, Feis Musician Sean O’Brien, she travels frequently for work.  Her passion for music, art, and dance colours all that she does.

In her spare time, Barbara is an active volunteer for CLRG, the Irish Dancing Commission, serving as the Marketing Chair for five years, and in May 2019 she transitioned to a new role as the Public Relations Officer for the organization. She is passionate about serving the Irish Dancing community by creating systems and introducing new technology to connect and bring benefit to all members worldwide.
