RATING
So far I started around 3 to 4 episodes in Liminal Lands and what stands out to me in this project is the earnestness of its creator. It has pretty straightforward in the beginning with alright sound. But it actually takes me back to a forgotten part of my childhood when I was reading the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. Liminal lands combining survivalist fiction with the esoteric is something I can get behind on. The creator definitely gives the main character the feel of a family man and sells it with genuine frankness. Whether it's direction stays personal or large, the Liminal Lands has heart and its greatest strength. I can see why people gravitate to it.
while the land is liminal, my love for this podcast is firmly in the 5-star dimension. Two seasons in and I'm loving the story.
This is a work of love. in the beginning, we know just as much about the world as the protagonist, that is to say, nothing at all. The strangeness of the world quickly becomes apparent, and while the traveler knows his way around when it comes to survival he doesn't strike me as impervious to damage. It is easy to fall into the trap of a civilian turning survival expert when the plot needs it to, but that does not happen in the Liminal Lands. There are a lot of things he doesn't know, and even more he can only do partially. it keeps the story interesting. It is a very interesting show and I cannot wait to see what more there is waiting in the land between the known and the unknown
This is well crafted suspenseful story. Right on the mark, edge of seat thing. Love It
From the first moment you know something is wrong with the world the main character finds himself in, you're just hooked. The story progression across three seasons is just insane, and it just never stops being interesting. The creator's commitment to weekly releases is impressive to say the least. This has been one of my favorite shows to follow.
Absolutely brilliant storytelling of a unique version of an afterlife journey. Every week I genuinely look forward to a new episode.
A moving narrative of isolation and loss, interspersed with tips on how to find pharmacologically active plants, dramatic readings of Coleridge, mysterious old codgers and singing sea shanties with cryptids.
An incredibly well written journey through isolation and a strange unwelcoming land. Brief glimpses of the family left behind and an exceptional soundscape really bring home the sense of loneliness and desperation of the man who has been separated from his family. This is a show and creator you will want to keep an eye and ear on.
The Liminal Lands is a show that so clearly has so much love and effort poured into it. The creator doesn’t do things by halves. The main character is voiced with such a grounded, earnest realism that counteracts perfectly with the weird and surreal setting. I love the depth of this world and the slow unspooling of information and worldbuilding we’re getting each episode. The sound design is also fantastic, especially for the wildlife, the whole thing adds up to a super immersive listen, highly recommend!
