In this episode we're talking with Ron and Jessica from the I Think We're Doing It podcast. We discuss race and justice in America through the lens of the 2016 film, Fruitvale Station, based on the last day of Oscar Grant, a young man shot in the back by a police officer while he was detained and pinned down on the ground by another officer. This shooting happened in 2009, the officer who shot him was charged with manslaughter and served 11 months. Oscar Grant was taken away from his family, a mother who loved him deeply, his girlfriend and their beautiful daughter. He was only 22. These murders and the lack of consequences for those who commit them continues to this day. We are airing this episode in the wake of the George Floyd and Breonna Taylor murders. Breonna Taylor's killer is still free. George Floyd's murderer was only arrested after the ENTIRE WORLD demanded justice. We're incredibly grateful to Ron and Jessica for joining us. Please listen to this episode, watch this movie, and consider what you can do to help move toward change. Jessica recommended connecting with the Grassroots Law Project to stay informed on ways to get involved. We'll share a link to their organization below. Much love to all the Cellar Dwellers, we hope that this episode might spark some thought and conversation for you. #BlackLivesMatter
