Good episode? Give it some love!
Stories about Russia’s interference in the election and its alleged secret dealings with Donald Trump and his associates have dominated the news lately. David Remnick compares notes with the reporters Evan Osnos, who is based in Washington, and Joshua Yaffa, who is based in Moscow. Together, all three wrote “Active Measures,” an investigation into the Trump-Putin drama that appears in the next issue of the magazine. Yaffa says that the pro-Trump Kremlin quickly cooled its celebratory mood after the White House ousted the former national-security adviser Michael Flynn. Meanwhile, some powerful Republicans in Washington seem determined to investigate Russian involvement in the campaign, even if it leads to the President’s doorstep. It’s possible that Russia got more than it bargained for in its efforts to promote Donald Trump’s candidacy for the Presidency.
