How To Build Career Kred Globally

Define

Define yourself and your brand. You have to know what you want to be known for before others can know you for that. You have to understand your strengths, weaknesses, what matters to you and what you want. Your strengths and actions must align and point people toward getting known for that one thing.

Integrate

Once you understand who you are and what you want to be known for, you need to start telling your story; how you show up online is where the story starts. When people search for you, the should see what you want them to see. Start taking steps to appear online in a manner that is consistent with how you want the world to see you. We live in a digital first world. Ryan states that 93% of recruiters and hiring managers have done an online search on you before they ever talk to you. If you’re not telling the story of what you want to be known for, you’ve got some work t to.

Create

In the create step, you take control of your story by creating content that aligns with your area of expertise or what you want to be known for. The content may be written, auditory and/or visual. The process of creating this content online stacks up over time and search results begin to reflect your story.

Engage

The engage step helps you build trust with people who like what you have to say and at the same time, repel those who aren’t right for your message. Engagement can come in many forms whether it is social media, comments or email. The goal with engagement is to start building good will and trust in your message

Writing a book

Part of Ryan’s journey to expertise in personal branding was synthesizing everything he learned and experienced, then distilling it into a comprehensive form of content. In other words, he wrote a book. Ryan learned a great deal from the experience, including writing the book was much easier for him once he created a comprehensive outline. He also said that writing was done quickly but it was publishing entailed dozens of details he learned about through the process. One piece of advice Ryan offered was to start talking to the publisher as soon as you start writing.

Story Brand

Story Brand helps businesses and individuals clarify their message so people know what they’re about. When it comes down to it branding is about being clear on your position, that’s what Ryan helps people do, get very clear on their positioning statement. Ryan learned about StoryBrand from Donald MIller who created the StoryBrand process . Now he’s helping others do the same for their personal brands and business brands.
