This podcast is right up my alley. It’s all about languages, linguistics, and sociolinguistics. That last is supremely important. Language isn’t merely a tool for communication; it often connects us to our family, friends, and culture.

This is a really international podcast which is excellent and brings a richness to the recordings that many other pods lack. As a linguist myself, the thing that came out loud and clear from the episodes I listened to were how much more you gain from travel and human relationships when you understand and can communicate in different languages. I found the guests fascinating; Betty is Kenyan and talked about Swahili - this reminded me of my grandparents who lived for many years in Nairobi so it was an unexpected trip down memory lane for me too. I think time spent editing could really help the podcast in some places, but this didn't really detract from the overall experience. Linguists can talk for hours about words, their meaning and the quirks of languages so listening to others discussing the same for hours was surprisingly uplifting and engaging. This is less mainstream than some podcasts out there but is definitely a great find for someone like-minded!
