My next guest, Debbie Godfrey has helped parents around the world for 30 years.  She helps parents go from despair to hope with practical, hands-on ideas. Her idea of positive parenting sounds straight forward, and actually it truly is quite simple, but I think where many parents feel lost is in the implementation of her techniques. I realized quickly in this podcast that I was getting a compressed, bare-bones training session. One of her tips for empowering my three-year-old I instantly tried out. I placed my youngest daughter's cereal in an area where  she can reach it, and filled up a manageable for her sized container, so she can independently make her breakfast in the morning. My little girl was so happy, like you could literally see the wheels turning, and she was so relieved to not have to ask us to get her cereal from the top shelf. Total ah-ha moment. The following afternoon, I realized the power of this new approach when I entered the dining area to see that she had made yet another bowl for herself. This is just one tiny example of how she can help parents and children enjoy life together.
