Author, Raven Oak joined us on the 23rd episode of the CSz Seattle After Party. We talked Comic Con, books, writing and had some choice words for (CSz) New York. This edition of the CSz Seattle Match Game started off with an immediate match by contestant Chloe. Contestant Daniel found his way in the lightning round (where anything can happen). In the end it was a close match, separated by one point, that came down to the last challenge. We then started our discussion with Raven Oak. Graham decided to bring us down immediately by talking about Terry Pratchett. Things quickly picked up though as we discussed inspiration, made Asa get us more drinks, and answered questions from the audience.Find out more about Raven Oak on her website or on twitter @raven_oak.Pre-Order her upcoming novella M-Class Exile.HostsJekeva PhillipsDaryl DucharmePanelRaven OakGraham TordoffAsa FagerBartenderAsa FagerMusic by
For our 31st episode of the CSz Seattle After Party we were joined by Kerry O'Connor and John King of the band Kerry and the Keepers. We started off with a very close game of match game between Tas and Erika. While we did talk about many things during the discussion period, many things were consistent, Dustin Diamond references and butts. This started in the match game and kept going through the end of the show.Hosts:Alex GrindelandDaryl DucharmePanel:Kerry O'ConnorJohn KingEmily EliseiBartender:Emily AllenMusic by, Kerry and the Keepers.
The last stop on the CSz Left Coast Tour was in Seattle. So we had improvisers from San Jose, San Antonio, Quad Cities and (technically) Milwaukee on the panel. Hear the bits come out as we welcome Lex Simpson, Jeff De Leon, and Courtney Pong to the After Party. We had a 3 contestant match game between Les, Elliott and Chelsea. Try as we might, Les scored less than the others but like all contestants he still won a prize. The discussion portion of the podcast discussed CSz (ComedySportz) and improv. Long hours in the car as they drove up the coast provided some good bits for the stage. One they shared with us was one they like to call Fort Bragg.HostsAlex GrindelandDaryl DucharmePanelLex SimpsonJeff De LeonCourtney PongJoe VellaBartenderAsa FagerMusic by
No live events this week so we thought we'd update you on what a few of our alumni are up to in the near future. What's Mandy Price doing with a bunch of alumni, including some of our hosts? What's author Raven Oak doing? Windowpane is in Maryland right now, so we aren't discussing them. Also, what ever happened to Jonathan Tweet? Is he debating someone about something? All those questions and more will be answered in this bite size episode.
Game Designers Samantha Kalman & Jonathan Tweet joined us for an evening of nerding out over video games and the process of creating them.During the Seattle Match Game our contestants Lara and Gina gave us one of the earliest scoring rounds. They also found out about Jonathan's one track mind. One of them even used it to her advantage for the win.During the discussion section we did discuss video games and quite a bit. We also discussed tabletop and RPG games along with other creative outlets. There was some game nerding out but there was also talk for people new to games.Hosts:Jekeva PhillipsDaryl DucharmePanel:Samantha KalmanJonathan TweetPonch HartleyJoe VellaBartender: 20150222_001008 Elena Lynch Music by

Chris Allen joined us on the podcast for his 3rd visit to the After Party. This time he discussed his own podcast called The Seattle Files. Chris let his history nerd flag fly and we learned some very interesting facts about the local area. Even when our questions stumped him, he still had something interesting to share.Hosts alexStoolListening Alex Grindeland Daryl Ducharme Panel chrisAllenStorytelling Chris Allen Ben Lidgus Dave Bogan Adam Fangman Music by
We played Cherry Picked Games' newest game, just funded on Kickstarter, Drink! We also tried to run a podcast with 2 of the creators of the game as our guests. One as a panelist and one as a contestant. The show had a great energy that kept us on our toes all night. We may have to play drink for every episode of the podcast.  Of course, that means we might have the danger of getting hit by flying shuriken coasters at any time.Hosts Danual Allen Daryl Ducharme Panelists Dave Bogan Emily Allen Alexander Jerabek Music by
Burlesque performer, actor, musician, and fight director, Woody Shticks Joined us on our return episode after a 2 week break. Economics podcaster, Stephen Mackey, returns to talk about his new YouTube channel, his segments for African Business Radio and an upcoming interview with someone whose book inspired him in High School. Here are a couple of books we discussed during this episode The New Confessions of an Economic Hit Man $11.54 By John Perkins Faces of the Enemy: Reflections of the Hostile Imagination By Sam Keen
The Fabricated Technobabble universe currently has 2 podcasts and this was a crossover between the Seattle After Party and The Spoilers : Wayne & Daryl. Technically, this is an episode of the After Party, but you'll have to go the The Spoilers site to get the one with curse words.
Daryl has 2 podcasts and this was the crossover episode between the After Party and his brand new podcast, The Spoilers: Wayne & Daryl. Of course, we played match game; but we also talked movies. Lots of movies were mentioned. However, it wasn't just Wayne and Daryl. This podcast got crashed by Glenn of the Film Wonk podcast. Is this the beginnings of a rivalry between 2 movie review podcasts or are they just frenemies? You'll have to list to find out. This podcast was sponsored by Cherry Picked Games who are currently crowd funding their newest game, Conspire. Please help them fund their game. Many movies were discussed in this show. If you are interested in purchasing them, why not support us by purchasing them through our links below.
Julia Y, the art lead on Astronaut:The Best came to talk to us about the game you can contribute to on Kickstarter until October 21st.Since she is doing the art for the game here are some shots. Here's some pictures from the event
From the improv group Human Propaganda we had Nicholas Schell, Lindsay Grimm, Jaclyn Schuenzel, and Hisam Goueli. For a show with Seattle in its name, we sure talked about Pittsburgh a lot. 20150823_003049-site This show was an experiment where Daryl hosted from the stage instead of co-hosting from the booth. The experiment seemed to work as the audio was decent enough to post. We talked a little about Human Propaganda the group but quickly found ourselves talking about future performances, Queer as Folk and towns in the midwest that have seen better days.HostDaryl Ducharme (with a little help from Jekeva in the audience)PanelNicholas SchellLindsay GrimmJaclyn SchuenzelHisam GoueliMusic by
Zak, Caitlin, and Matt from the sketch comedy group Drop The Root Beer And Run joined us for our 50th episode of the After Party. We had to cheat so points could be earned in the match game. We also discussed Zak's extremely brief stint as a CSz Seattle player.
Here's part 2 of our show dedicated to Crewmates at the Annex Theater. This is the meaty part. We get a no holds barred interview with the director, the writer and 2 cast members. They pull no punches but we also have a lot of laughs. While you're listening you can play the drinking game that came up out of this interview. Whenever Sameer calls the director Faraz instead of Shahbaz, have a drink of your beverage of choice. It's a story of Islamic magical realism and it is coming to the Annex Theater in May. It's Crewmates, written by friend of the show Sameer Arshad. Daryl went to a rehearsal and got to talk with the cast about this show which is 100% POC. It's a show you haven't seen before. A story of angels, Jinn and Asians in love. Go to the Annex Theater and have some fun seeing something new. Music by
Listen to a little of what happens before an episode with this pre-show clip with Windowpane.
Mike Schubert, host of the Potterless podcast, discussed reading Harry Potter as an adult with no nostalgic baggage.
Donna Prior, also known as Danicia, was our guest. We talked gaming, convention, and put that together to talk about gaming conventions. Of course we talked about Orcacon, the conventon she founded.   Orcacon is coming back January 13th through the 15th of 2017 and they just got funded through kickstarter. If you like games you should take part. It is one of the most accepting conventions around. Whatever level or type of gamer you are, you'll be welcome. Of course we talked games. A couple of cooperative games that were recommended were Flash Point and Space Cadets. We were talking games so we also invited Alexander Jerabek of Cherry Picked Games. We've obviously played the game Drink!, but they also make the game Catalyst and are currently testing their next game. $29.48 Buy on Amazon $37.74 Publisher Services Inc (PSI) Buy on Amazon $38.00 Buy on Amazon $8.00 Buy on Amazon Host and Panel View fullsize Alexander Jerabek View fullsize Donna Prior View fullsize Daryl Ducharme
Our former 3 time Seattle Match game champion joined us to try and regain his title. He competed against Brian and Julie. It was a tight match that came down to the last line in the lightning round. As per the bylaws of the podcast, anything can happen in the lightning round. We discussed Jose Canseco's finger. We even did a little 'scene in the dark' of what happened when it fell off at a poker game. $11.80 $13.78 For our shout outs and Q&A section we were joined on stage by one of Alex's improv friends from high school, Kyle Green.Hosts:Alex GrindelandDaryl DucharmePanel:Mike GlissmeyerKatherine BoydJekeva PhillipsBartender:Graham TordoffMusic by
Clayton Weller of The Pocket Theater joined us for an evening of fun and theater talk. I think we surprised him with the Seattle Match Game to start it off. He was so excited to be here. 20150118_005308 Our contestants for match game were Josh & Jason. The first half points ever were awarded this game. Even with those half points we still had one of our lowest scoring games yet. In the end it was a 2 half point difference that decided who won. Also, Clayton brought gifts for our contestants. 20150118_004439 During the discussion (that started around the 32-33 minute mark) we talked about The Pocket Theater and Clayton's sketch group, Ubiquitous They. We also got into some theater business and theater discussions. What's it like to be the new theater in Seattle? How running a theater has not gotten in the way of Clayton's writing. Also, who do they know personally who inspires them?Hosts:Alex GrindelandDaryl DucharmePanel: 20150118_011223 20150118_011206 20150118_005320 Ponch HartleyJekeva PhillipsClayton WellerBartender: The bar is always open for the After Party.
