SHOW NOTES00 - Imagine being in Gillon McLachlan’s shoes right now. Finally got footy back up and running and now Alastair Clarskson is taking pot shots at the ‘state of the game’.

5.30 – Is running sport during COVID-19 becoming a code war as well as a state war of NRL v AFL? Discussion of the changing face of the hub set up. Hutchy feels like Melbourne teams should get out now while they can. If they don’t want to leave their families, then don’t go.

11.30 – reflecting on the current state of play under COVID-19. From international border closures to some Melbourne suburbs being off limits.

16.00 – The narrative around Heritier Lumumba’s claims of racism at Collingwood has been interesting. Use of the term ‘my truth’ or ‘his truth’ is worth discussing as is the nature of offence. Hutchy feels Collingwood should just make an unconditional apology.

25.00 – Taking Out the Trash. Lovely piece of work by Rugby Australia to tweet details of the AGM at 7.30pm on a Friday night. Thanks to listener Justin Cornell for the tip off.

29.00 – Discussion of budget cuts at the ABC while meanwhile the federal government announced $50 million public interest news gathering program to support rural and regional publishers and broadcasters.

35.30 – Question of the Week for Social StatusToby Mew via Facebook asked;"We often see controversial media personalities continue to get away with, frankly, extremely offensive statements. Some presenters, such as Alan Jones or Sam Newman, have a reputation for this and yet kept their seats for years. At face value, it seems that the media keeps them on for their ability to generate headlines, under the guise of promoting diverse opinions. At what point does the media say 'enough', and remove people from airtime for their remarks?

That’s our Question of the Week for Social Status. Social Media marketing is more important than ever and if your business needs social media marketing, Social Status are offering fifty percent off to any sounding board listener. Head to their website HERE.

41.00 – Tik Tok for Business. Will advertising ruin the platform?

43.00 – Billions has run out! Hutchy was hanging out to finish the latest season of the show and now finds out the final episodes weren’t even filmed before COVID-19 shut down production. Hutchy wants suggestions of another ‘chips in’ series he can watch. Damo recommends Breaking Bad.
