Things get sexy on The Stand-Up Chronicles this week with Susanna Lee (Lucky Deluxe) who mixes the art of burlesque with stand-up comedy. She’s been on Last Comic Standing and can be heard on Sirius/XM Radio. We’ll talk about burlesque, stand-up, and some of the odd jobs she’s had in-between.
Here’s more on Susanna:
Susanna Lee (Lucky DeLuxe) is a modern-day Mae West, clearly speaking her mind, tickling her audience with a combination of sharp-wit and teasing sensuality. Successfully integrating burlesque routines into her stand-up comedy shows, introducing burlesque into mainstream comedy clubs, and self-producing tours of her one-person show “Getting Lucky”, leaves this saucy gal way too busy for long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, or anything outside of work, beyond talking to her cats and cutting herself in tender, inconspicuous spots. Her original spoken-word striptease routines have been compared to the legendary works of Gypsy Rose Lee.
Susanna Lee (Lucky DeLuxe) has been heard on Sirius XM’s Rawdogs Comedy channel, and seen on such television shows as “Last Comic Standing”, “Beverly Hills Brides”, “Girls Behaving Badly” and “America’s Court”. She has performed in several festivals, including the New York, New Orleans, Colorado, Kansas City, Best of the Midwest, Southern Fried, and Show-Me Burlesque Festivals, the Chicago and Ventura Comedy Festivals, and the Coney Island Rockabilly Festival. Her second one-person show, “Getting Lucky” won a “Best Of Fringe” award at the 2011 and 2012 KC Fringe Festivals, and is currently making it’s way across America. Her burlesque variety show, “Giggle-n-Grind”, delights audiences, and makes a homebase at the Improv Comedy Club in Hollywood.
