For nearly fifty years now, Patrick McGoohan's classic television series THE PRISONER has entertained and perplexed millions of viewers around the world. Even today the show divides opinion as to whether it is a work of genius or a load of old rubbish. Over the decades since THE PRISONER's first appearance, many scholarly minds have tried tried to fathom this cult classic and failed. Now it's the turn of three idiots to try and work out what's going on (it's our first go at this podcasting lark, so please go easy on us).

In this podcast, The Village People podcasters take a look at the very first episode of THE PRISONER.

ARRIVAL

Who is he? This man who is to remain a prisoner for a long time? Who has abducted him? And why?

Vapour hisses through a keyhole. The occupant of the room passes out and then, returning to consciousness, lurches to the window for air. But it is not the familiar London view that he knows so well. His eyes stare out at a village he has never seen before: a beautiful village, architecturally puzzling and difficult to identify, with the sea in the background, mountains stretching in the other direction. It could be anywhere. Anywhere in the world…
