Way to often we hear people say I can’t make money I can’t find a job. I will never be able to reach my goals because there just doesn’t seem to be enough money. Well the problem 99% of the time isn’t that you can’t find a job but it’s that you don’t want to do the job that is available. When it’s comes to not enough money it’s most likely that you have way to many unnecessary expenses and aren’t saving.

One of the answers to the solution is to create a side hustle. Yes you have heard it before, a side hustle will require you to not binge that next Netflix series. You will have to be more aware of your time and you will need to be better task oriented. In fact if you were to cancel your Netflix and create a side hustle you will not only save $12 to $14 a month but you could add sever thousands to your budget.

We are like every other family. We have full time jobs. We work our butts off, provide for our family each month and like some families, still want more. We have 5 kids, and even though we make good money, it never seems to be “enough” I think that’s the issue with a lot of families.

We only want the best for our families, and we try to give our kids what they need and a lot of times what the want… if they deserve it. ;)

I had a friend a few years back who made Yardzee games. They are like Yahtzee , but yard size and fit into a 5 galon bucket with a lid. I thought I could sell a few, so Devin ran and bought a 4x4 and cut the wood into dice. We then burned the circles into each side with the help of our daughter, Elizabeth… stained the blocks, labeled the bucket and got all the bells and whistles done to get ready to sell. Takes roughly 1 hours from start to finish (not including drying time for the polyurethane on each die)

I started out by listing them on the facebook market place and within an hour, Devin was calling me into the living room with a crazy look and said something like “ uh, Shannon, you’ve sold 17 so far” I didn’t believe him, so I stopped cleaning and checked my phone. Sure enough, I had message after message asking for my Venmo and when they would be available.

A lot of hard work went into making these games. The most time consuming part was the burning of the dice… man, Elizabeth was a trooper. She sat downstairs for HOURS burning for us. Of course, Devin paid her and that made her very happy.

When it was all said and done, we had sold 166 Yardzee games. Why? Because we were hustling to make money. People were loving the product and we were happy to keep offering them as long as they wanted them.

I don’t think people realize they have so many was to make money, you just have to find out what people like and make it. It’s not impossible. Set a goal and work at it. Find something that is popular that seems interesting and go for it.

What’s something you’ve done to make money? Share with us your ideas.
