Listened to the premiere episodes of Thirteen and I have to say...I was hypnotized! I was immediately drawn right in to a world that is both strange and really scary. The way the backstory is told at same time as the current story unfolds is just brilliant! Everything is extremely well written, narrated and acted. Although there is not a lot of sound effects, the music and ambience gives the show a quite distinct and eerie feeling. I really would like some more, please!
Great voice acting. Some of the best nuanced /layered writing I've heard on a podcast!
Most of the episodes are atmospheric and told from really unique points of view. The writers do a good job of weaving in enough red herrings that you're never quite sure where exactly the story is going until it gets there.
The acting + atmosphere are really great and consistent. A few of the episodes felt a little formulaic for a while, but overall really enjoyable. Definitely heed the explicit/nsfw tags!
From the creators of Olive Hill comes spooky anthology series, Thirteen. The first 2 episodes are a terrifying possession story. Episode 3 explores small towns, religious paranoia, adolescent romance and has a chilling conclusion. The VA work and music is hypnotic and has 90s vibes which is always my jam. Can't wait to hear future episodes!
Clever, unique stories with a dark twist. Great voice acting and music/sound editing!! I'm a huge fan!
Well-written, but pretty depressing horror stories.
Fab. I love listening before I sleep. Brilliantly delivered, great stories, it is hypnotic listening that I adore.
I really enjoy this podcast. It's an anthology so you can listen to whatever strikes your fancy. The stories come in varying levels of spooky but most are low to mid creepy. I definitely recommend.
It's not every day you find a show where you know you're going to be scared, creeped out, or otherwise disturbed but also, irrevocably changed by it. A show where you come away thinking differently, while still worried about turning off the lights. It also doesn't hurt it's audio-perfect with beautiful compositions always. Do not let these stories miss you, or you'll regret it.
I'm writing this review on the 7th of the month, and I'm excited to know that it's less than a week until I have a new episode from 13. These stories are well crafted and well voiced. It is as advertised, a slow burn sort of production. If you enjoy that kind of atmosphere for spooky stories this is definitely a podcast for you.
