Listen. The voices? Amazing. The music? Amazing. The editing? Amazing. Mandry? The bestest boy there is. What else do you need? They are all lovable character and they are in space. Also, it will smack you in the face with emotion so good luck.
This Planet Needs a NameNot many of our fans are as dedicated to a single character as you are, but your love for Mandry is legendary on our server, Clay. Thank you! We'll try to go on giving you reasons to love him!
Listen to this podcast for the love of god.Audio- greatSound design- choiceCharacters- natch Storytelling- quite literally out of this world. As of this moment I have listened to about 3 hours of This Planet Needs A Name. 3 hours of just. Looping episode one over and over again. How y’all managed to make episode one (and the prologue) just so riveting is mind boggling to me. It took me two weeks to get in to DNDaddies, two MONTHS to get in to NADDPod, and y’all snagged me in two minutes. If you’re in to the specific niche podcast flavor that I am, you’re going to live for this podcast. Think like, if Penumbra and the final arc of TAZ:Balance had a sort of serious but hope-filling podcast baby.
This Planet Needs a NameThis review rapidly became our favorite thing - that last sentence! You absolutely get what we're trying to do, and we're so glad. And what a compliment, that comparison!
This show is sweet, beautiful, and wonderful. It's created with such care, and the writing/voice acting/sound design is STELLAR. I highly recommend listening!
This Planet Needs a NameThank you! Our sound designer works hard to create all the sounds - and music - herself. The rest of us work pretty hard too, admittedly.
The teaser absolutely pulled me! I canNOT wait to see where this goes.
This Planet Needs a NameOur first reviewer! And I know for a fact you've stuck around to see where it goes. <3
This show sounds great, is acted perfectly, written exquisitely, yes, yes, yes... but what I want to make sure you know is that This Planet Needs a Name is about us; it's about community & humanity in ways that are so incisive, you're barely ready for them when they happen. If you want a fiction podcast to love but also to be changed by, listen now !!!
I'm absolutely loving this show! Each character has their own unique story and I can't wait to watch it all unfold on this new alien planet.
This Planet Needs a NameThank you so much! We try pretty hard to make sure the people we tell these stories through are, well, people. We're glad you like them!
From the very first episode, you're immersed in a story that is both wonderfully epic and so intimately personal, so emotionally compelling. There isn't anywhere near enough hopepunk in science fiction, and this is how to do it right.
I found out about this as I follow Sawyer (Quill) on Tik Tok and I'm so in love with it! The cast of characters is so unique, and the fact that the characters as well as the cast come from so many different backgrounds is so wonderful and adds so much dimension to the podcast as a whole. The story is amazing and balances intrigue, curiosity, and hope all while making you attached to the characters and therefore concerned with their wellbeing. Can't wait to see where this amazing podcast goes. Good luck to everyone involved!
This Planet Needs a NameThank you so much! We're always glad to hear when people connect with our ragtag little crew.
This show has only a handful of episodes and it's already one of the best space podcasts I've heard. It's not a just a story of space exploration and colonization - it's about love, emotional balance, loneliness, feelings, magical science - and that's all just in the PROLOGUE. Seriously, go listen to this show, and fall in love immediately. I cannot wait to see where the adventures of this amazing crew take them.
This Planet Needs a NameThank you so much, David! Being in love with our crew seems to be pretty universal. Wonder why that is...
This Planet Needs a Name is relaxing, dare I say, is the Animal Crossing of Sci-fi Podcasts. While the people living here on the nameless planet face a lot of the same challenges as anyone exploring the depths of space, what drives them is more hope, love, and friendship than fear or survival. I'm just as curious to see what wonders and challenges they'll discover on this alien world, as I am to see how the relationships evolve.
This Planet Needs a NameThank you so much! We love hearing what people pick up on - what they connect with, what they want more of. There will be more wonders and challenges, we promise :)
The word that springs to mind is epic. Yep. This is epic. Epic and incredibly thoughtful and kind. There's not enough of this sort of thing in the world so give it a listen and get ready to feel... hopeful!
This show is fantastic! The voices are amazing, as is the acting. I'm still early on in the show, but holy cow I already feel connected to the characters and love where the show is going! It's unique and somehow soothing - definitely needs a listen!
so luvely! wow, to hear so many wonderful trans, non-binary & queer voices, & polyamory rep!! I cried, this is such a beautiful show, well produced & written & acted, with absolutely adorable relationships of different kinds & all the wonderfulness & messiness of being human~ wanna pet a floofy snake & give everyone hugs (if they want). also rly appreciate the awareness & acknowledgement of colonialism around the classic "colonize new planet" narrative that so often isn't there in other scifis
This show makes my heart ache - in the best of ways. I love it!
Fascinating characters that span the spectrum. Can’t wait to learn more about these characters. They definitely display the good side of humanity. They wrestle with the difficult task of creating a new home for humanity while respecting a delicate environment that already exists.
Listen (no pun intended...), this is a great example of why podcasting is such a creative breakthrough. People who wanted to craft a story that they cared about got to do so, and no stuffy executive can stop them. As a result, we get a lovingly crafted story made by good people. The writing is great. The voice acting is great. Love the music. My cats don't get spooked by the sound effects (okay, that's a me problem). And science fiction is fun to listen to, but visuals can get in the way of storytelling (so yay for auditory mediums).
This Planet Needs a NameWe're also glad not to have to answer to any stuffy executives! That's the benefit of being indies. Thank you so much for this - we're glad you like it, and that our sound effects don't spook either …
currently on ep4, hooked since ep1 😍 binged them in one dayI had a hard time finding a new podcast after finishing Where the stars fell, my conditions were - queer, funny but emotional, and longer episodes. What did I get? Queer, funny but emotional, and found family?! Couldn’t wish for more. Since first ep Cyrus is my favorite character, hope it will last. Can't wait for what is gonna happen next 😍
This is the sweetest, most hopeful show, without being too much or false. It's just genuine and lovely. Trust me. I know things.
The music is so powerful
