I was hoping for a cool sci-fi podcast about survival on an alien planet. This is 90% a scientist documenting alien life, which I didn't find terribly enticing.

One of the best and most unique sci do shows I've heard.

This show is truly something special. It's really smart SF with some of the most creative science-based worldbuilding I've ever heard. They took into account gas giant migration in the evolution of this solar system! Clearly written by someone who loves science and scientists, and every episode and the facts at the end bring smiles to my face <3

A very pleasant character piece that also really puts the Science in Science-fiction. I am keen to know where the show intends to lead us as well as the characters because as of now it has mainly been set-up and character work. This show isn't for everyone as it can come across as a tad too aimless but I would still recommend giving it a go.Also bonus points on getting Zach Libresco because is it really a sci-fi podcast if he isn't in it?

In this "water planet from Interstellar meets The Martian" survival story, it is not Matt Damon but Winifred Eurus who has to figure out how to survive a beautiful but challenging alien environment. If this isn't written by a biologist, this is at the very least written by someone who has done the work to try and capture how a biologist thinks. The curiosity, the analysis, the griping about funding and training, the exclamation that "biologists aren't doctors!". Very good job.

I just binged Tides over the last couple of days and I'm losing my mind over the cliffhanger I've found myself on, haha. My wife listened in on a couple of later episodes with me with no prior context and also had no trouble getting invested. The worldbuilding and creature creations are just incredible, and it's so easy to get immersed in the descriptions and imagine this other planet, so familiar at a glance but so distant from anything we know on Earth.There were a couple of places during conversations with multiple characters where the sound was a little difficult to manage (such as one being more quiet than the other), especially if I happened to be listening in the car. I think if I had been wearing headphones, it likely would have been a nonissue, but I usually need to opt for phone or car speakers. Other than that, the sound design was lovely, and it's been very nice getting to experience a podcast with a lot of atmospheric storytelling that doesn't accidentally slip into the pit of 'scenes that would sound good if they also had visual cues, except this is an auditory medium so what is going on'.Thank you all for creating such a fascinating world and sharing its discoveries with us!

Just a solid sci-fi story with good characters a cool biology facts

A story about a xenobiologist who has to survive on an alien (mostly water) planet. A significant amount of time is spent describing the various species of the planet; the passion for biology comes across in the descriptions of the creatures and how the main character thinks about and interacts with them. Probably not as fun if you don't like excessive monologues of worldbuilding or xenobiology, but I enjoyed the focus on exploration as well as the excitement the main character has for discovery. Some character-centric moments as well as the main character learns to adapt to her surroundings.

I feel like this show was made by a bunch of science geeks because it's just awesome. You can tell everyone loves what they're doing
