From anecdote in my own life, along with some evidence from surveys of younger generations from around the world it seems like there is a whole lot of Climate Change pessimism going around. Actually, pessimism is too weak of a word for it. The general feeling amongst today’s youth is that the planet is seriously fucked. This outlook is also affecting their choices in regards to their careers, family planning and financial strategies. And really, who can blame them. We’re not even slowing down our collective emissions into the atmosphere, let alone reversing them.Nevertheless, as a society, we can’t be lulled into a sense of hopelessness. We must now think in terms of mitigation, adaptation and long-term reduction of greenhouse gases. That’s where this podcast comes in. It’s a new show from the folks at The Economist, that aims to map out the path to tackling climate change with intelligent and informed analysis of the steps that need to happen.
