As they make their move on the local wrestling arena, the plan goes badly wrong when civilians are shot and killed by Banjo, one of the members of Gully’s crew. With news of the botched job circulating in the press, Alfred’s mum suspects his involvement and asks him to move out of the house. His father would be very disappointed in him. Alfie’s love life is just as complicated as Gully’s wife, Melanie, reconnects with him in the Delaney club and once again Alfie shuns Sandra’s affections. Elsewhere the closeness between Bet and Katie develops as they must think of creative ways to hide one of Bets former imprisoners, George the Beefeater, at the sex shop (Sykes Pain Supplies) and Katie learns more about Bet’s past. Meanwhile tensions ratchet up at Raven Union HQ between Harwood, increasingly dependent on medication and booze, and Francis Gaunt as he learns of her secret meeting with the English League and loses trust in his old friend. This is the end. We're discussing Wandavision Episode 9 "The Series Finale" in this week's podcast with spoiler filled detail from the start. We chat about what it all means and where we think it's going. WandaVision Episode 9 Synopsis Episode Written by: Jac Schaeffer Episode Directed By: Matt Shakman Westview becomes the battleground between both magic and sentient technology as both Wanda and Vision fight for family and themselves. Agatha Harkness and the newly crowned Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff, face off against each other as Agatha explains the Darkhold book of the damned, she begins to absorb Wanda's power and offers her a bargain to return to a peaceful life. meanwhile White Vision (sent in to neutralise Wanda) battles to destroy Vision. But who is the real Vision? as fighting becomes philosophical debate, both Visions reach an understanding and White Vision disengages from his attack and leaves. As both witches float above Westview Agatha's offer is shown to be a double cross as Billy, Tommy, and Vision are caught in Wanda's created reality and will disappear if the Hex is removed. But Wanda has a few tricks of her own as she employs the magical runes to neutralise Agatha's magic and return her to be the eternal nosey neighbour Agnes.  In the aftermath of battle, Wanda realises that Westview cannot continue for it's residents nor her family and as the Maximoff family return to their home Wanda begins to collapse the magical hex. As Billy, Tommy and Vision say goodbye and return to the ether of the universe's energy, Wanda begins a new journey on her own. The FBIs Jimmy Woo and S.W.O.R.D.'s Monica Rambeau assist with the clean up in Westview. After the credits the investigation in Westview continues. Monica is visited by a Skrill, as an old friend of her mother would like to meet her up there in space! Meanwhile, Wanda has found an isolated cabin in the mountains to escape from the madness of the previous events. As she makes a cup of tea for herself her astral form absorbs the teachings of the Darkhold but is interrupted by the screams of her sons Billy and Tommy! The road of Wanda’s life is strewn with heartache and grief: From the death of her parents in Sokovia as a young child, the experimentation and testing by Hydra and the death of her brother Pietro to the love and loss of Vision at her own hands. After being denied rights to bury Vision’s body by S.W.O.R.D., Wanda travels to Westview where she faces her final agony. She confronts her loneliness and the future she and Vision could have had building a home in this town. Talking to camera and barrier breaking fill WandaVision Episode 7 "Breaking The Fourth Wall" with big reveals. We chat all about it on this week's podcast. WandaVision Episode 7 Synopsis Episode Written by: Cameron Squires Episode Directed By: Matt Shakman From the N64, and Atari controllers to Wii remotes and Uno the Maximoff household is glitching between times, and after the fright night that was Halloween Wanda desperately needs some “me” time! With Agatha helping to look after the twins and Vision still not returned home, Wanda settles in for a quiet morning of “to camera” self-reflection and TV. At the travelling circus on the outskirts of Westview the new clown Vision and Darcy the escape artist escape their big top debut to get back to Wanda but events seem to be preventing them from getting to Vision’s home. Meanwhile after a few hiccups Monica’s plan to get back into the Hex is successful but as she pushes her way through the energy field, her DNA is altered giving her new powers. She makes her way to Wanda and her new powers help combat Wanda’s magic as she tries to appeal to her better nature and to stop Wanda’s hold over Westview. Luckily before things can escalate Agatha steps in to diffuse the situation and brings Wanda to her house and the twins. As Wanda regains her composure things begin to feel odd at Agatha’s. Where is Ralph, more importantly where are the twins and why does Agatha’s basement have an ominous mediEVIL vibe? Why? Because it was Agatha all along!! Everything gets a bit scary at the Westview Square Scare as we discuss WandaVision Episode 6 "All-New Halloween Spooktacular!". WandaVision Episode 6 Synopsis Episode Written by: Chuck Hayward and Peter Cameron Episode Directed By: Matt Shakman Something spooky is a foot in Westview as the town prepares for Halloween. With Pietro bunking down on the sofa, the Maximoff family gets into costumes for the big event, but while Wanda, Tommy, Billy and Pietro head for the spooktivities, Vision is engaged with Neighbourhood Watch duties. Outside the Hex, Agent Rambeau, Agent Woo and Darcy come to blows with Director Haywood on how to combat Wanda and are relieved of duty. While being escorted off the base, Woo and Rambeau initiate Plan B; as they begin to explore how Monica can re-enter the Hex, Darcy discovers Haywood can track Vision in the Hex and a high-level , “eyes only” project called "Cataract" in his encrypted files. At the Westview Square Scare festivities (for the Children) Wanda and her brother catch-up with each other and Tommy and Billy begin to test their own super powers. Out in the suburbs as Vision watches the Neighbourhood the residents are behaving oddly and eventually seem frozen in time. Drawn towards Ellis Avenue, at the boundary of Westview, a lost and confused Agnes tells Vision that he’s an Avenger, but he has no recollection of who or what the Avengers are!! Setting Agnes back on the road home, Vision discovers the boundary of the Hex. Pushing through the energy field he pleads to S.W.O.R.D. that the “people need help” but begins to disintegrate and die. His predicament alerts Tommy and Wanda, who, summoning her powers, expands the Hex to envelop Vision and save him. As the Hex pushes outwards it consumes Darcy and the S.W.O.R.D. base is turned into a circus full of clowns. Did you see this coming? We chat all about WandaVision Episode 5 "On A Very Special Episode...". Massive spoilers from here on out. WandaVision Episode 5 Synopsis Episode Written by: Peter Cameron and Mackenzie Dohr Episode Directed By: Matt Shakman With perms, leg warmers and proto internet new to their lives Wanda and Vision begin their ‘80s journey. As the twins, Tommy and Billy, grow up fast, the ever neighbourly Agnes witnesses many strange new goings on in the Maximoff household . Outside the energy field Agent Rambeau, Darcy and Agent Woo begin to tackle the mystery of the Maximoff anomaly or “Hex” but are at odds with Director Haywood and SWORD who have classed Wanda as a terrorist. Realising that Wanda is altering the existing reality, Monica, Darcy and Jimmy begin to probe the force field with technology contemporary to the 1980s sitcom. At work, an email from SWORD to Computational Systems Inc, allows Vision to connect to the real Norm and realises the extent of Norms pain and Wanda’s control in Westview. Elsewhere, Wanda confronts Haywood and Monica outside of the protective energy field, after they send in an armed ‘80s drone, and she gives them one final warning to stay away and leave her home alone. Back at the family home Vision confronts Wanda about her actions and pleas with her to be honest with him, but then the doorbell rings. A surprised Wanda answers the door to find an unexpected visitor, her dead, Fox-franchised, brother Pietro. It's all change for WandaVision Episode 4 "We Interrupt This Program". We see the other side of the screen and chat about the episode in full spoiler filled detail. WandaVision Episode 4 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bobak Esfarjani and Megan McDonald  Episode Directed By: Matt Shakman Five years after the devastating events of Thanos’ snap, Agent of S.W.O.R.D. Monica Rambeau returns along with everyone else who disappeared in the blip. The world is different, including S.W.O.R.D. that is now focused on Sentient Weapons. As she’s grounded Monica gets a new mission investigating a missing person from the town of Westview with FBI Special Agent Jimmy Woo. A missing person case soon becomes a missing town case. When Monica investigates her drone that disappears through a strange energy field she is sucked inside the invisible border of Westview. S.W.O.R.D. call in the experts including DOCTOR Darcy Lewis, an astrophysicist who has dealt with strange disappearances before. Darcy soon realises that she can access a broadcast of Westview and learns that Wanda Maximoff and The Vision are the stars of the show. They have surrounded themselves with missing townspeople to play more roles. While S.W.O.R.D. attempts to infiltrate the town, Monica mistakenly reveals that she’s a stranger and is expelled from Westview where Wanda has everything under control. It's complicated in WandaVision Episode 3 as the couple deal with growing pains in the 70s. Vision begins to suspect all is not what it seems. WandaVision Episode 3 Synopsis Episode Written by: Megan McDonald  Episode Directed By: Matt Shakman Now in glorious technicolor, Wanda's very recent pregnancy takes a decidedly speedy and fruity form! But for Vision something feels wrong. As Wanda's contractions start, Westview experiences blackouts and burst pipes. Vision races to get the Doctor, Geraldine needs a bucket, and Herb and Agnes loiter outside their house. But for Vision something feels wrong. Wanda, helped by Geraldine, gives birth to twins. In the happy afterglow the two baby boys settle down, but some unsettling questions begin to formulate about Westview and Geraldine from the doctor, Agnes and Herb. Vision knows that there is something wrong here. Inside, as Wanda talks about her twin brother, things become awkward with Geraldine. Something is sparked in Geraldine who remembers that Pietro was killed by Ultron. As Vision races into the house Geraldine is gone! Elsewhere, Geraldine is thrown out of Westview, through a force field to the ground. As helicopters whirl around and armed men race to her location Vision feels that things have returned to normal. Things get even stranger in WandaVision Episode 2. We discuss this Bewitched inspired episode in full spoiler filled detail and lots of excellent feedback. WandaVision Episode 2 Synopsis Episode Written by: Gretchen Enders Episode Directed By: Matt Shakman In a new decade Wanda and Vision go out of their way to impress the neighbourhood as they prepare their magic show for the local community fundraiser that's for the children, but Wanda just wants to fit in!  In their black and white utopia of Westview, strange things are afoot, with bumps  in the night, colour toys and strange radio messages. Wanda meets Dotty, the Queen of the cul-de-sac, controller of country club membership, school admissions and head of the fundraiser committee but her decorum doesn't impress. Yet Wanda just wants to fit in! At the local neighbourhood watch meeting Vision gets all gummed up as he tries to fit in!  Despite some hitches with their magic act Wanda and Vision's performance impress their neighbours and things are on the up as they look forward to becoming parents with a baby on the way. Wanda and Vision begin to fit in!  But as night comes to Westview, a noise outside leads them to a strange figure who doesn't fit in! Threatened, Wanda reverses time to escape and a new colourful reality in Westview opens up to fit them in! Happy New Year and what a year it's been. We begin the year with our 2020 TV recap, our annual look back at all the shows we've covered on TV Podcast Industries. We also discuss all the other shows that got us through this extraordinary year. Shows discussed in our 2020 TV Recap We chat about all 8 shows we covered in our 83 podcasts of 2020 including The Witcher, The Boys, Penny Dreadful, Pennyworth, Star Trek Picard, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Umbrella Academy and of course Lovecraft Country. We also discuss some of the shows that we should have covered on the podcast including The Mandalorian, Cobra Kai, Star Trek Discovery and Truth Seekers. There were loads of other shows that got us through 2020 including Schitt's Creek, Upload, Kingdom, Succession and The Expanse. Looking ahead to 2021 The schedule for 2021 is a bit of a movable feast given how many shows have had to delay production but here's what we know we're covering this year. WandaVision - From January 15th 2021 A nine episode TV show on Disney Plus. Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff), Paul Bettany (Vision), Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis) and Randall Park (Jimmy Woo) all reprise their roles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's also been announced that Teyonah Parris will join the cast of WandaVision playing an adult version of Monica Rambeau. The character of Monica Rambeau was last seen in the 90s in Captain Marvel. Pennyworth Season 2 returns from March 7th 2021 with the final six episodes of the season. You can check out our podcast about Pennyworth so far below: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - Coming from March 19th 2021, the second Marvel show on Disney plus arrives. Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Bucky/Winter Soldier), Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter) and Daniel Brühl (Zemo) have all been confirmed to return to their iconic roles from the Captain America and Avengers movies. Loki - The time-travelling god of mischief gets his own series from May 2021. Once again starring Tom Hiddleston in his most loved role. What If...? - The animated show show from Marvel will be coming to Disney plus from summer. The 10 episode series will feature most of the major cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in alternative tales from the multiverse. Star Wars is Coming! In our final section we also discuss all the shows coming from Star Wars on Disney Plus. At Bazza’s funeral Alfie decides to team up with Gully to get the money to pursue his American dream. An attack on the Lord Mayor by Alfie, Dave-Boy, Gully and his team to steal gold bars sees tensions rise between Gully and Alfie. At Delaney's, Dave-Boy turns on one of Gullly’s men, Banjo and friendships are on a knife-edge between Gully and Alfie, but as they settle their differences Gully’s wife Mrs Troy and Alfie share a moment down at the bar. Meanwhile, after being shot at by Union forces, Bet Sykes and Katie make it to League-controlled London; but after a couple of days on the streets she finally tracks down her sister Peggy at her new sex aide establishment, Sykes Pain Relief. Elsewhere the English League holds hustings for a new leader and at Raven Union headquarters the high command of Francis Gaunt and Lord Harwood looks delicate as Captain Salt  weaves his spidery web to sow dissent and ensure the deployment of his project StormCloud.  Lord Harwood becomes increasingly impatient at the lack of military success to reclaim London. Salt demonstrates the potential of his chemical weapon to claim total victory as a spy by the name Doctor Lucius Fox watches on. We're discussing Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 3 "The Belt and Welt" the shocking first part of the two-part mid-season finale of Pennyworth. While Alfie gets a visitation from his late father his mum helps a wounded girl back to health and rediscovers her purpose in life. Meanwhile Alistair Crowley’s manipulation of Prime Minister Archbishop Potter is complete as the holy man is captured in a compromising position with multiple sexual partners. Potter takes his own life leaving the way clear as planned by the CIA. Bet Sykes finally makes contact with an appreciative Lord Harwood who arranges for her retrieval but Frances Gaunt is concerned that Bet’s uncontrollable nature puts the Raven Unions' cause at risk. Following the crushing loss of their travel fund, Alfie falsely accuses Captain Gulliver Troy of betraying them. But Gully offers the boys a job to make back their lost earnings.  Back at Delaney’s Dave Boy realises that his drinking has caused their problems. After bragging about their windfall to another group of drinkers at the bar the nefarious group concocted their extortion plan. When Bazza, Dave Boy and Alfie confront the thieves it all gets out of hand and costs Bazza his life in an accidental explosion. Will Dave Boy recover from his part in the death of his best friend? This week we're discussing Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 2 "The Burning Bridge". There's a bump in the road for Alfie's plans, but who is behind it? Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 2 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Danny Cannon Alfie and the boys have the money and are ready to head for a new life in the USA, but Alfie is having trouble telling Sandy at the club of his decision to leave England and he still can’t convince his mum to move with him; as she  still struggles with the death of her husband and Alfie’s involvement on that fateful night. As the Raven Union make plans to press their advantage over the English League, differences between Lord Harwood and Frances Gaunt bubble to the surface over the terrifying project Stormcloud. To make things worse for the English League, the CIA has decided to undermine their leadership as they go after British PM Archbishop Potter over his moral stance against the newly developed hydrogen bomb. While Thomas is uncomfortable with this course of action he makes plans to employ his old satanic adversary - Anthony Crowley - to discredit Potter. Elsewhere Bet Sykes is still on the run from the Raven Union with her hostage, Katie Browning; and Alfie finds himself embroiled in another hostage situation. With his mum kidnapped, Alfie , Dave-Boy and Bazza attempt to rescue her, but things head south quickly as Inspector Assiz and the police interrupt the hostage negotiations. In the confusion the ransom of £20,000 is taken by the kidnappers and while his mum is safe the loss of the money puts Alfie's American plans very much on hold. Peter Greatness is not what you think. In 1984 Diana Prince is living and working in Washington DC. When she isn’t protecting the city as Wonder Woman, she spends her time alone. Since losing her first love, Steve Trevor in World War One, Diana has distanced herself from human contact. When her new co-worker Barbara is asked to identify some ancient artifacts Diana takes an interest in a seemingly mundane item and forms a bond with Barbara. The item was created by a mischievous god. It grants whoever holds it one wish but takes a toll. Diana inadvertently wishes Steve Trevor back into existence while Barbara who is often overlooked wishes to be just like Diana. Meanwhile businessman and TV personality, Max Lord has been trying to track down the item for years believing it’s the answer to all of his problems. Lord retrieves the item and uses it to get his failing business on track. But being an overnight success isn’t enough for Max, he wants more. He begins to grant everyone wishes, no matter what they are in exchange for more power, influence and health. Diana learns that her failing powers are caused by the return of Steve and realises in order to save everyone they all must reject their wishes. She has to sacrifice a life with Steve and convince the world that achieving their version of greatness is not worth the pain it causes to everyone else in order to save it. Captain Sykes is heading up Raven Union interrogations in Norfolk, but hasn’t quite settled in yet and really does not appreciate her superior officers request for a cuppa. She dispatches her boss and helps a suspected Leaguer to escape the detention centre. Meanwhile Alfie, Dave-Boy and Bazza run the Delaney club in no-man's land in the London enclave of Soho keeping the peace between Raven and Leaguer. After hours the boys continue as guns for hire. As the Raven Union presses their advantage, Alfie is approached by Martha to infiltrate enemy lines and kidnap a Union Officer called John Salt, a seemingly unimportant logistics man in the Union army. Pennyworth uses a former army veteran, Captain Gulliver “Gully” Troy, to play both sides against one another for money to further his dream of moving to America; Little does he know, with Salt returned to the Ravens he can continue his work on project Storm Cloud, a plan to deal a deadly chemical attack against the English League and the enclaves of resistance.
