Up for review today is "Elizabeth Franklin: A Witch's Tale" by Ron George and "Simon Sees" by Corey Carroll. Aarika took on these two books for review for this weeks episode of Hump Day Shenanigans!
Elizabeth Franklin: A Witch's Tale by Ron George:
Raised in a family spanning generations of witches, Elizabeth Franklin was faced with a decision: to follow the teachings of her mother, or venture into the shadows of dark magic as her grandmother before her. In pursuing the darkness, Elizabeth would ultimately be banished to Hell in her quest for power, as she violated the sacred Witch's code through her own slave's deception.
Over 150 years later, a group of teenage gamers partying in the abandoned Franklin Mansion make a grave mistake, inadvertently opening a gateway between the living and the dead. Elizabeth's spirit now set free and bound for vengeance, she returns to her plantation home with hopes to walk amongst the living once again.
In the beginning of a dark trilogy, Elizabeth must find balance between the evil lurking inside her and the realization that she may have went too far down a shadowed path.

Simon Sees by Corey Carroll:
Simon Whitaker has worked hard to live his dream; from owning a franchise of successful health clubs in Washington D.C. to being able to afford most of the toys that a young, single man enjoys. However, most of his spare time and money is spent in a more unusual way…
Instilled with an insatiable passion to help other people, Simon disguises himself and blends into the fabric of the poor and destitute. Posing as a stranded motorist, a garbage worker or even homeless Simon rewards those who help him in magnificent ways. There is no limits to the amount of fortune he will use to care for other people. But where does it come from? Who taught him to be so generous? Even Simon doesn’t know, until a long lost visitor from his past returns to show him the true origin of his benevolent heart. Yet, not everything is as it seems. Circumstances collide together that threaten to destroy everything that Simon has ever known and tell a story of hope, kindness and redemption.
