Matt grew up in the wine country of California, graduated from Analy High School in Sebastopol, CA. , class of 1987. Entered the United States Marine Corps 1989 serving in Operations Desert Shield/ Storm with I MEF as an electronic technician, and also in Operation Restore Hope, the operation depicted in the movie " Blackhawk down". Where served with 1st MEU, assigned as CPL. Of the Guard at Lido Pier, Mogadishu, Somalia. Left the Corps in 1995 with a VA disability percentage for injurys sustained while serving. Was later diagnosed with PTSD in 2000, and ultimately received an Unemployabilty Rating in 2007. Where he moved to Show Low, AZ., working as doorman and security manager for a local bars and clubs in the area until 2015; until he was able to put his 5 yr plan of traveling all 50 states into action. Not wanting to just roam the states he decided to include his passions of Baseball and War History. So not only will he be traveling 50 states but also attending a game in every MLB park and setting foot on at least one major battlefield in each state; writing a book about his travels. Baseballs and Battlefields is born.
