Welcome Dog Lovers! Dr. Chris Bessent is someone that I couldn’t wait to have on the show and here she is! Dr. Bessent has over thirty years of experience in veterinary medicine, including certificates in veterinary acupuncture, chiropractic, and Chinese herbology as well as a master’s degree in acupuncture & oriental medicine. With degrees in veterinary medicine, nutrition & animal science, she founded The Simple Food Project, formulating freeze-dried recipes for pets from nothing but whole foods.

Currently, she divides her time between The Simple Food Project and Herbsmith, a manufacturer of premium quality supplements for dogs and cats. Both are owned and operated out of her facilities in southeastern Wisconsin.

Dr. Bessent, why don’t we start with, what is Glyphosate?

Can you give us a little history on this toxin, when it came to be.

I heard you mention that most crops get sprayed more than once and glyphosate is actually sprayed again to help the entire crop mature at the same time?

And it concentrates in plants with seeds?

In 2010, the World Health Organization categorized glyphosate as a “probable carcinogen”. Why does the US continue to spray glyphosate on crops?
