Jo Detavernier launches a new website about Science for PR – to help communications professionals with insights from diverse scientific disciplines.

In this episode, I have a chat with Jo on the why and how of a new website around this important topic. Let’s face it, we, as a profession, have concentrated more on the creative aspect than the scientific one in the last 50 years.

With this new website and the editorial team behind it, Jo is joining several other initiatives to connect the academic world with the public relations profession.

If the public relations profession wants to play an important strategic role for the organizations that it serves, it will only succeed in doing so if it is data driven.

We talk about the need for more information sharing, promotion and integration of scientific data in the PR world and the educational gap which exists.

About my guest:

Science for PR was founded by Jo Detavernier who is the editor-in-chief of the site. Jo worked in Brussels communications consultancy agencies for eight years before moving to Texas in 2015.

Jo is an APR accredited communications consultant with special expertise in corporate communications, content marketing, public affairs and crisis and issue management.

He is a VP and Partner with Manzer Communications, an independent Austin, TX-based PR consultancy.
