Alliance Defending Freedom filed a lawsuit against Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville after three no-contact orders allegedly chilled a student's First Amendment rights.  The lawsuit was filed on behalf of SIUE student Maggie DeJong, who received the orders after allegedly offending a student with Christian rhetoric.

The "no-contact orders" barred her from any on- or off-campus activity where she may come in contact with the accuser.

TOPIC 2- OHIO GOV. MIKE DEWINE SIGNS BILL ALLOWING TEACHERS TO CARRY GUNS IN SCHOOLS WITH 24 HOURS OF TRAINING

Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine confirmed Monday that he signed a bill allowing teachers and school staff to carry guns in school with reduced training.  The bill, HB99, reduces the number of hours of training the staff members have to get to carry a firearm within the school. Under the new law, teachers and other staff must possess at least 24 hours of training, compared to the previous over 700 hours of training, according to local outlet NBC4.  The 24 hours includes 18 hours of general training, two hours of handgun training, two hours of “additional” general training and two hours of “additional” handgun training, according to the outlet

TOPIC 3- ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ACQUITTED IN KATE STEINLE'S 2015 SHOOTING DEATH GETS TIME SERVED FOR FEDERAL WEAPONS CHARGES

Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate, an illegal immigrant who was acquitted of murder in the 2015 shooting death of Kate Steinle, was sentenced to the seven years he has already spent behind bars on Monday after pleading guilty to federal weapons charges earlier this year.  The 51-year-old Mexican national will now be transported to Texas to face charges for failing to report his location to immigration officials in a separate case. Kathryn "Kate" Steinle, 32, was walking with her father and a family friend on a San Francisco pier in July 2015 when she was struck in the back by a bullet and killed.
