An indentured servitude employee sci-fi dystopia. This is what happens when a company is allowed to become a monopoly & then the controlling influence of society. An entertaining Sci-fi with a twist. Seasoned smuggler Kilner and reluctant fugitive Samantha travel the galaxy, carrying out odd repair jobs hoping to pay off their Automnicon debt. Financial Freedom is the perpetual dangling carrot. A great production with outstanding actors.
I would do ANYTHING for sponsorbot This podcast is also so funny but sometimes also heartbreaking and I love that in a story.
Hilarious listening however dramatic or sad at times. It's a show about two space repair women, one of them a recent prison escapee who also happens to be a heiress. It would have been obvious that they would fight at odds with each other (the other one being a working class who has a lot of debt with the company that employs/owns her) but the charm about this podcast is that it didn't go that route. We Fix Space Junk is all about friendships, love, survival, and it is also a satire or a reflection of the imperfections of our world ( a conglomerate is the major villain of the show). It also has a bunch cute robots and colorful space character/creatures.
So funny and fun and filled with wonder. A universe I'd happily explore forever (though not personally, I'd probably just stick to listening to the podcast!)
The writing isn't as clever here as the staff thinks. Kilner and Sam's banter isn't terribly compelling. It thinks of itself as a more comedic Blakes 7. But it's tremendously boring and poorly written. You're better off with Hitchhiker's or Red Dwarf than this inept production.
I had to give this one a few episodes, but once I was on the third episode or so, I just couldn't stop listening to it.
Look, even if this wasn’t one of the tightest, most well-designed shows out there (it is), or if it didn’t have a banging theme song (it does), or if the acting wasn’t committed, specific, and excellently directed (they are), the writing alone would be enough to recommend this show. This is an old-school sci-fi comedy a la Douglas Adams and it. is. lovely. We love odd couple bickering! We love reluctant fugitives who become part of a team because they have no other choice! We love saying fuck capitalism and the debt system (but in, like, a fun way)! We love AIs and cyborgs! Also episodes are roughly 10-20 minutes long so they’re lovely little bite-sized bits of wonderful space adventures. Listen, do it!!
Awesome story-telling with great voices and soundscapes. I sneakily got my 13-yr old hooked by replaying the first few episodes during a car trip (without saying a word about it, because parent suggestions are ignored) ... and now she’s including it in her English project.
More I listened more I liked.
This podcast is great. I wasn't sold on the first episode, but after a few more I was really hooked. Its smart and pretty funny and the characters are interesting. I think they do a really nice job of balancing each episode's plot-line with a story that develops throughout the entire series.
I could listen to the adventures of these space repairpeople forever, and I hope that I get to. Fantastically witty and wonderfully heartfelt, this show's writing and sound design tell a hilarious story.
This has to be one of my all time favourite shows. It doesn't miss a beat. The writing is incredible and the acting matches it. The soundscape in every episode does that duel job of putting you in the world and establishing the tone of that world. It's just great on every front. If you like Red Dwarf, Lou'll love this.
I love this show so much! Everything about it is amazing, and I especially love the contrast between the dark ever-present Automnicon, and the comedic plots and characters. I can't wait for season 3!
This show is brilliantly written and acted, zany and glib and unexpectedly moving, given the zaniness and the glibness. I love the characters so much! This show has, like, Phoebe Waller Bridge energy? I recommend it highly!
'We Fix Space Junk' is a superb sci-fi comedy podcast that wears its 'Hitchhiker's Guide...' inspiration proudly on its sleeve, while mixing it with an unexpectedly emotional heart and wonderful sound design & voice acting. Beth Crane has created something really special with this series and I urge you to listen to it as soon as possible!
The dark overbearing hand of capitalism even reaches into the depths of outer space and isn't that just great jumping-off point for a fun sci-fi podcast? The answer is a big YES! If you're in need of a good sci-fi comedy show with rich world-building and fun characters this is a must-listen.
This is a stupendous SciFi show! I'm in love with the characters, their development, that soundscapes! It's terrific!
I absolutely adore WeFixSpaceJunk! Set in the dystopian hellscape of a corporatocracy in space, the story, rendered as a domestic character-driven narrative really works. It is bright, fun, and thoughtful and brimming with characters to really care about - even the AIs!
