Autoimmune Conditions Affect 1 in 6 Americans!
There are many “triggers” of autoimmune conditions including diet, toxins, leaky gut, stress, infections, and viruses. In this episode we look at the research surrounding Epstein-Barr Virus and autoimmune conditions.
When our immune systems are healthy, it keeps the viruses in check, but when it is suppressed by stress or illness, the infection can become active once again. Once the virus is active, the inflammatory immune response damages tissue, which then causes more inflammation and a bigger response from the immune system. Autoimmune disease develops from that chronic state of inflammation.
We also breakdown various healing modalities among the functional medicine perspective to help reduce stress and chronic low-grade inflammation.
