Dana Bookman, founder & CEO of Canadian Girls Baseball and founding VP of American Girls Baseball, shared the true story behind her title with us on Sunday, October 31st, 2021.
Awarded a 2021 Meritorious Service Medal by the Governor-General of Canada for work with CGB & named one of the top 100 most influential people in Canadian baseball by the Canadian Baseball Network, Dana is a strong advocate of empowering girls through sports and giving them the soft skills to become future leaders.
"Dana began her life in Canada with a love of writing and journalism. Life however had a different plan for her as she would later learn when her six-year-old daughter wanted to play baseball, but not be the only girl out of 400 players. As a producer Dana was used to solving problems, so she decided to create a place for her daughter to play and it turned into a national baseball league for girls. Now it's a sport anyone can play!"
