Eloise Klein Healy is Los Angeles' first Poet Laureate.  For the next two years, Los Angeles looks to her to celebrate important events and to make poetry a public matter.  She has earned this achievement many ways.  She is a professor, a creator of college and post graduate programs, the founder of Arktoi Books, the co-founder of Eco-Arts, and a poet who writes with attention to landscape and the details of daily life.  She has published six collections of poetry and a chapbook.  Her latest collection is brand new this month, _A Wild Surmise:  New and Selected Poems_She lives in the San Fernando Valley with her partner, Colleen Rooney and their dog, Nikita.  She was born in El Paso and grew up in Iowa,Read her work at eloisekleinhealy.com.
